Toilet doesn't flush

    Hi,

I'm posting here because I'm absolutely mortified. We recently bought our house, had a survey done and it seems like all was rosey. Until it turned out the previous owner was a DIY enthusiast but had no clue what he was doing.
We had a plumber in for some heating related questions and he said that the plumbing is wrong. Anyway that's another thing.

The toilet did stop working, the tank doesn't hold any water and if you fill it manually the water just pours down into the toilet straight away. It also seems like the tap in the bathroom is connected with the toilet somehow since we have very little water there (?).
I tried ringing at least 5 plumber since Monday in the area telling them I have an emergency since I have kids at home. Nobody ever showed up or got back to me and it's just embarrassing.
I now found someone who can come in on Monday and with some luck maybe even tomorrow but I honestly need a working toilet.

Is there anything I can do in the meantime beside using a bucket to flush?
    I'm in South Wicklow county.

Did the plumber turn off any valves when looking at your heating?
Toilets and bathroom cold tap are normally fed from your attic tank. If both are not getting water then there seems like a blockage somewhere in the outlet pipe from the tank,
Also seems like your siphon is also faulty in the toilet cistern. When you fill with bucket it should hold the water until you flush.

One of the plumbers , on here, might have some advice on tracing problem.

The electric shower has normal water and decent water pressure, but I don't know if that's fed from the attic too. He definitely didn't turn off any valves afaik but I'm honestly not inclined testing that on my own.
