I want to buy a knife from ebay. Ebay UK & Ireland don't allow the purchase of knives. I tried registering on Ebay.com but they need a US address to register.

Does anyone know a way around this ?

Register an address with a mail forwarding company.

Yes. I use addresspal but €16 is a lot for a €50 item

Should have mentioned before that if its a particularly "aggressive" knife then customs may have something to say. Houses have been visited before by AGS (See Stop, Search, Seize Season 1 for examples).

I actually asked the Guards about this as I frequently carry quite a large knife on view. The Guards told me that, as long as I had a legitimate reason to carry it ie my work, then all is well.

They did joke that I shouldn't have it with me at night in Shop Street :)

The strange thing is that ebay UK, IE, & .com won't let me buy. But I can buy via Ebay france with no problem.

France has always been that way. I remember school tours and the teachers confiscating flick knives by the dozen from 12/13 year olds, sold by shops in France

I remember that too. There is no restriction in the US but when you put Ireland or UK as the delivery, ebay blocks it. Maybe ebay don't recognise the French for "Knife" :)

Saw a video on Facebook. Teenager buys three boxes of bullets. Cashier rings them up without a word. Teenager says oh and a pack of of cigarettes. Cashier online thence asked teenager to for ID.
They done things differently in the States for sure :)

A knife restriction is just pointless. Every home has knives. There is a big selection in the local outdoor sports shop.

I got a mini leatherman and mini swiss army knife from US store before at different times, I found them on ebay, a business seller I could trust, but I could not get the knife (blade about 1 inch, been given bigger metal blades with my dinner on planes post 9/11), The company had its own site though, so used that, and think it was cheaper too. I would be wary of fakes if it is a brandname one.

I ordered a kitchen knife through uk addresspal. Couldn't find any info as to if it will get through. I don't think they scan packages. WIll update.
