    Hi All,

So myself and herself getting married Saturday 3 weeks, 24 days I think!!!
So, biggest problem is the dress hasn't arrived!! To say herself is frantic is an understatement!!

It was ordered the beginning of January and was due in the week of the August bank holiday.
Then it was a week later, then another week. Finally the shop gave their word it would be in Friday 1st Sept. Here we are today and it still isn't in and she is now saying this day next week!! That only leaves two and a half weeks, and to be honest its impossible to believe a word they say!!

Herself doesn't know if she should go and find something else or what to do!! She doesn't want another dress got only to be told its here and have to pay for too!!
Shes afraid to let another week go by only to be told it'll be another week!!

Anyone have any advice, if I tell her once more that it'll arrive I think she'll swing for me!! :D

She'll be grand if she's getting it from a bridal shop. Tell her not to stress

Has she to get alterations done to it? I got married on a Saturday and collected my dress on the Thursday before, but that was with the alterations done.

If I was your fiance I would probably start by asking the shop for proof that it was ordered from the manufacturer in the first place. If they give you that, maybe she could get in touch with them herself and see what the delay is?

Well, I mean the obvious thing, bar going down to the shop and explaining that its days to the wedding and she needs to try it on and confirm sizing etc... is to look for a backup dress.

    A plan b.

Just a simple white off the shelf item from a high street shop, keep it in the bag and return if not needed.

I would be all over the shop anyway. Explain yiu have completely lost faith in their ability to deliver on time, and what are the reassurances, ask for proof from the supplier etc. I know people worry about being called a bridezilla, but feck that. It is you, dealing with a supplier on a serious delay to an item with a deadline. Take no prisoners.

Yes. Get a backup dress from Monsoon, Debs, ASOS. They do lovely off the pegs dresses. Have a look on Done Deal for pre-loved dresses if things get really tight. Not ideal, I agree, but needs must!

I would not bother asking the shop for proof they've ordered the dress. They probably have, but I reckon they've bundled orders from different brides together, and as a result, ordered your dress too late. I would be straight on the blower to the designer in the morning to ask when exactly your dress was ordered (if at all!) and find out what the story is.

Once you get their side, you can then tackle the shop.

Do you have wedding insurance to cover the costs?

    Good luck!

Have you looked at possibly getting a back-up dress from jjshouse.co.uk (They're in China). I've ordered my bridesmaids dresses from them and they're lovely. The take about 10 days - 2 weeks to arrive. The returns policy is rubbish though.

Nope. There's little to no time to order. And if the returns policy is crap, that will be worse than useless!

The OP's better off going into a bricks and mortar store as Pwurple says...

Oxfam bridal shop is another option if you're Dublin based and looking at a backup dress
