Thought it'd be useful to new and returning players for D2 to have a place for all SGA and Pro Tips, etc.

First up is Heroic Events (shamefully stolen from Reddit) -

0:43 - Fallen Glimmer Event (You must destroy all 3 glimmer nodes. If you're shooting a node and it's showing damage numbers, that's probably it.)
1:34 - Fallen Ether Event (You must destroy all small Servitors that assist the big one.)
2:03 - Spider Tank Event on Titan (You must disable all 3 forcefields by using 6 arc charges, 2 per forcefield.)
2:44 - Witches Ritual Event (You must destroy the 2 shielded crystals by standing on the Hex Circles.)
3:25 - Vex Construction Event (You must activate all 3 Vex plates by standing in them until 100%.)
4:02 - Cabal Extraction (You must destroy the Cabal Thresher ship that patrols the area.)
4:38 - Taken Event (Stepping in and out of the smaller blights gives you a buff which then allows you to damage the main blight. Do enough damage and a boss will spawn).

There is also this imgur post which is a little easier on the eyes than a wall of text.

Pressing both start and select at the same time takes you straight to the map and saves valuable seconds compared to holding the select button.

If you have a spare sparrow alt characters can make use of them from level 1.

I think it might be touchpad + start on PS4.

Crap never thought about that, some of the travelling round is painful early on and just started a warlock

You can ride your sparrow over the white lakes on Nessus and not take any damage.

Collecting all the Regional Chests and Looting all the Lost Sectors the 1st time (they go from Grey to Dull Yellow indicating you have looted them the 1st time) is a good way to go up about 30 Power Levels after you have hit the 200 Power Level you would approximately be at by the end of the campaign and hitting level 20.

Doesn't take a whole lot of time and tbh you can go it fairly chill and solo with some TV on in the background as you go. The drops aside, you will be swimming in Tokens for the 4 Planetary Vendors so it's pretty time-efficient way of gearing up as it takes maybe 2-3 hours to do them all. And the tokens can be held onto until you hit lvl260 meaning the Legendary engrams you get will be 260+ and even used on your other characters if needed

What is the light cap, 300?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,695 ✭✭✭✭TitianGerm

You can inspect Exotic Engram to see what it is going to drop. The selection resets every five minutes so if you inspect and don't see anything you want or need them wait the five minutes and have a new selection.

I thought so too originally but it's not true. The preview rotates every few minutes alright but that has no bearing on what actually drops....for example you could get something that didn't show up in your preview list.

    350.

    300 unlocks prestige nightfall though.

seems odd that legendary engrams cap at 265 when the actual light level is sooooo much higher.

My blues were dropping at 270 yesterday (I'm 275). Not sure if its a bug or the grind system.

Started on my Alt yesterday. Knowing the system better how i'm hoping to break 300. (Don't actually know if this is possible yet)

Up on the D-Pad when you're in orbit I think it is, there's a command at the bottom of the screen for recent results or something along those lines.

Looking to check medals. Wiped out a full team with a Nova in the early hours. Screen was lit.

Ah yeah, I've no idea how to check medals. Was that even in the first game? I can't remember now. Destinytracker might be the best bet.

Found this on Reddit for the Sturm exotic quest - Killing powerful fallen on Nessus part.

"Simply start up the Exodus Siege adventure on Nessus, kill the cloaked fallen scout who spawns 50ft from the beacon and starts running at you, abandon activity like you would a patrol, and restart. Whole process took less than five minutes and about 100 rounds of ammunition"

If you've started a second character and reached level 20, you can swap over the mida mini tool and banshee will automatically give you the quest for the mulit tool. This will be a good means of getting a decent exotic fairly early for alt characters.

You can also complete the enhance quest at a later time and banshee will again give you the multi tool quest so you can get it twice.

Can you not transfer over the actual high light mida?

Also won't a copy go into your collection so you can just buy it again.

You can yes but this is a handy and quick way to get a second mida and avoid having to swap it back and forth.
Also won't a copy go into your collection so you can just buy it again.

And this way you won't have to waste resources buying it again.

Plus it'll help jump up a few levels, especially when you get the second mida on the alt character

Yep, but it would give a shortcut to getting another 385 scout rifle.

There is an anti-farming lock out if you open too many region and random chests within 5 minutes. Happened to me yesterday while collecting Cayde-6 treasure chests, the last chest rewarded nothing

Yep 5 chests within 5 minutes. Happened to me yesterday spamming the same lost sector for Drang kills.

Getting rid of shaders as soon as they drop. You get Bright currency for this dismantling legendary shaders. Glimmer for blue and green.

In case anyone anyone is confused with modding/infusing here's my best explanation:

I'd grown quite attached to a 274 grenade launcher Wicked "Something" so Thursday I equipped it with an Arc power mod to bring it up to 279.

This morning a blue 276 launcher dropped. I was able to infuse it to the 279 launcher because it's base power level is still 274. The mod stayed on and it's now 281.

Total power level on Warlock is 283. But engrams are decrypting at 276 which makes my Warlock's actual power level 281 (Is that correct engrams decrypt at 5 levels below). Always be wary of that if true.

Yeah, I think engrams discount any +power/armour mods when looking at your overall power level. I haven't used a single mod yet. If the weapon has one equipped when it drops, so be it, but I haven't actively used any so far.

Try the blue, keep the legendaries. I threw all arc mods on my smashy titan and his grenade recharge is insane (Double Nades aswell). Worked a treat in PvP last night :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

I'm throwing legendary mods on everything. You can buy rare ones from the gunsmith and make legendaries from them. It only costs glimmer and I'm constantly on 99999 anyway.
My LL is 292-293 with the mods but true LL is 287 or 290 I think

Yeah, if you hit the glimmer cap I buy aload of mods plus aload of the maps off Cayde to bring it down abit then build it up again but it fills up so fast.

If you opt in to using the DIM Beta (over standard) you can now see which items have Legendary mods via a Gold Border/Outline.

    http://beta.destinyitemmanager.com

A 300 non-legendary mod scout put into a 300 scout with a legendary mod will make the one with the mod become 305 now

This is more helpful than I'm making it sound, but any stuff you have with Legendary mods should be not deleted and maybe infused with other gear.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,870 ✭✭✭✭Generic Dreadhead

Most pulse rifles do 33% of their damage per bullet (3 burst), The Graviton Lance does 12.5%, 12.5% and 75%, but the 3rd round doesn't suffer from range drop off. So overall it does the same damage as any other Pulse that level at most ranges, and essentially handicaps the user by putting so much of the damage into the round that is hardest to aim/hit/crit with :(

quick way to rank up an alt or farm exotics (grindy)
tl:dr when you do the specific public event rather than travel away from it spawn into the area again and if you're fast enough you'll get another

If you do public events on Titan they usually start within 30-60 seconds of each other on the first and second platforms.

I've found it the best place to run them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,411 ✭✭✭✭gimli2112

yeah me too (or the EDZ) doing it the you tube way you might get into another 2-3 right at the end and get 2500xp a pop

Just on public events trying to do them solo can be painful

I can solo the two walkers but it's always touch and go with time.

The Wizard one on Titan is nearly impossible to solo.

i just did the walker one on titan twice just 2 mins ago but ran out of time , and that wasnt even the heroic one , its hard enough to complete this weeks flashpoint with decent rewards on your own if no one spawns in titan to help..all im getting is tokens at the moment but oh well
