Yes, but the global version does not seem to be available. It displays discontinued when I selected it.

mine was global version, no bloot-ware worked straight off the bat.

How does this rate to the Xiaomi redmi note phones?

I've the redmi note 3 but have no real plans on getting a new phone soon. It's still going strong after 18 months.

What's the camera like? It's a real downside on my phone

Mine arrived on Friday. It was a gift for the OH and she loves it.

I ordered before the bargain alert was posted. A global 64gb version, hence my questions about that version.

I didn't get caught for customs. The invoice they sent shows a value of 50 USD so I guess that would satisfy customs if they looked for it, and mean there was no extra money due?

From what I've read I can't find the difference between the international version and the global version, they seem to have the same specs.

Good spot as it's the best value option currently.

My galaxy s7 is in bits, dropped it, battery is knackered. Really poor quality phone and I've had all the galaxys except the 6. I like the look of this, but the screen is enormous, is there a similar spec Xiaomi phone with a smaller screen?

Have a redmi note 3 which was great but starting to get ghost touches on the screen after dropping it a few too many times. Very tempted by this. Do you think it will come down in price?
There is no 4g in rural areas with this phone? Will 4g work in city with Eir? I like the build quality of Xiaomi but would there be any alternatives to the Mi Max at this price?

The mi5s has a Snapdragon 821, which is class, 5.2" display for about 220eur

Got  my Mi max 2 from Ali express, got the global version. As I understand it, the original or Chinese version comes with Chinese apps and localised settings, without Google Play, and is Rose coloured. The recently released Global version has Google Play installed, the Chinese apps removed, additional 4G band(s), and is black. Now some suppliers have take the Rose version and flashed the Global ROM into them, however, this may prevent in some cases being able to do OTA updates, as when Miui 9 is released. These can be updated by downloading ad flashing with the relevant ROM.
I asked for the new Global version, and seemed to have got it. It is a mighty phone, I am very pleased with it. There are a couple of minor irritations, such as the lack of Ireland as a region, so have to pick UK. It takes a bit of getting used to how you select which SIM card to use for calls and texts, but trial and error gets you there, and it seems to work fine.
I got a clear glass screen protector, a plastic film protector, a clear gel case with the phone for 219 odd Euro. I paid an additional 19 Euro for Courier, and this was sent to the UK first, where I think it gets removed from a large consignment of items and these are then couriered individually to their respective countries in Europe. Mine spent 2 days in Heathrow. I was not charged any duties.
Going back to my old Sony Z2 5.2 screen made me realise how great having a 6.44 screen is, and how easy you adapt to it.
