There are many suppliers of car tyres online advertising a variety of manufactures unfamiliar to me. I need 195 45 R16 for a 2007 Ford Fiesta. Any recommendations or warnings.

    You'll get incredibly varied responses.

As a general rule, try to buy the best tyre you can afford and try to avoid Chinese brand tyres as these can often be poor quality.

195/45/16 is a slightly obscure size, if you are replacing all 4 tyres shop for 205/55/16, they will fit the car and will be a much cheaper tyre to buy as they are a lot more popular a size.

Wouldn't a 55 profile on the wall be a bit high for a Fiesta though making the handling a bit floaty?

I don't know if you'd feel much of anything through a ten year old Fiestas steering :pac: I'd say the biggest change would be aesthetically but not necessarily in a bad way. You'd get a premium 205/55 for the price of a low spec 195/45.

My sister has a Fiesta similar to that with those size wheels and I just think that a 55 wall would make the car sit too high which would affect the ride. I wouldn't go higher than 50 if I had to.

    195/45/16 is the correct size.

With only 39,000 km on the clock over 10 years the average weekly mileage is 80 km, but in normal every day use it's closer to 40. Driving speed seldom exceeds 90 km/hr on motorway. So it's minimal weekly suburban driving at 50 km/hr max. I'm looking for an average grade rather than the cheapest and locally in Dublin I'm getting quotes around €65. Whether this info is any way relevant is debatable but suggestions posted to date are appreciated.

That would be a much bigger tyre than the previous one, 9% more diameter...
    205/40 R16 and 205/45 R16 are both only 1.7% different.
