Kittens and fleas

I have just gotten two kittens, I brought them to the vet and she gave me the treatment for them for fleas worms etc ( not because they have them but the usual treatment). I got two bites in the last two days so I'm worried that they've fleas, but I did apply the lotion that you apply monthly. What do I do next? I've not seen any but they're close to 12 week and I saw a treatment in the supermarket you can only use if they're 12 weeks and over but is it ok to apply something else as well? They may not even have them but just looking for advice on fleas and kittens, are there any good house sprays for furniture?

Don't put anything shop-bought on the kittens. They are not particularly effective and it could be dangerous to double-up. The spot-on from the vet is enough. Bear in mind that flea treatments don't prevent fleas - they simply kill them when the flea takes a bite.

If you are going to treat the environment for fleas, please get the environmental spray from the vets and follow the instructions very closely. You'll also need to vacuum thoroughly including skirting boards and soft furnishings. Also hot wash any bedding or fabric the kittens have been in contact with.

Indorex spray for furniture and carpets, etc., available only from Vets is very efficient if you follow the instructions carefully.
    And lots of hoovering!

The stuff you got from the Vet is MORE than enough. 12 weeks is very young still they will not be able to handle anything else - it might make them very ill or worse.Bide your time it takes a few days to take hold.Lots of hovering meanwhile...

That's great thanks! I'll keep hoovering and get that spray from the vets if I think they definitely have it! Also for all you kitten experts is it normal for them to be pretty mental for a few hours when I get home from work? They're running everywhere after each other for about 2 or 3 hours! Any kitten advice in general appreciated!
