    If someone getting married for a second time wishes to keeps property for his kids following his death does having a will made ensure this or does the second wife get everything?
    Thanks

    A couple of points:
    - any existing will is revoked when a person marries (unless it has been made in contemplation of marriage) so a fresh will will be needed to give effect to the person's wishes;
    - the spouse is not automatically entitled to everything - the legal minimum entitlement is one-third of the estate, but that might be complicated by the question of a family home.

    So it is wise to take professional advice armed with the understanding that provision can be made for the children of the first marriage.
