Repair chipped windscreen Civic

Pretty much as the title says. Was driving down the motorway when the guy in front was nice enough to flick a stone up to chip the windscreen.

It's at the bottom right of the windscreen and is like a spider shaped crack, small centre and a few small cracks coming out of it.

Any idea if this can be fixed without replacing the entire windscreen? It's a 2013 Civic and has a rain sensor built in so might not be that straight forward to replace.

Windscreen rain sensors have been around for donkey's years so they should be well used to replacing them. Just make sure they don't cut corners or be lazy by just putting the sensor gel from the old windscreen into the new one. The gel needs to be replaced too.

In my Civic rain sensor was built into the windscreen... The plastic cover transferred over alright ..

They should be replacing the gel sensor behind the mirror with the windscreen as they have been known to be flaky if just moved over from the old one - the wipers become either too sensitive to rain or not sensitive enough.

Yeah let's hope it's straight forward.  I have fully comprehensive insurance but I can't remember if I have windscreen cover.  As luck would have it I can't login to check my policy online and the insurer's are closed today.   I renewed my policy a few months ago and it was a bit hefty and I think they might have cut something off it to reduce the price but I can't remember what it was, if anything.

Guess I will have to wait until tomorrow and phone them then.

If you don't have windscreen cover Halfords sell a RainX chip repair kit for €12. Just repaired one over the weekend, pretty good results too.

Thanks. I have windscreen cover apparently so that's good. Will probably use AutoGlass, never heard of Mr Windscreen which is what I automatically got put through to. The insurer covers AutoGlass
