Gay Bars for young people in Dublin

So basically I'm heading back into second year college and decided its about time I make the big leap and go to a gay bar. I have decided to bring my straight friends along for some support. I have heard that both Panti and the George tend to have an older crowd. Is there a gay night club in Dublin where people in there early twenties go out. Also is gay tinder good for the shift or is it just mainly for something more.

Forgive me for being a little dicey with you OP, but this topic comes up a lot re: Older gays vs younger gays.

LGBT venues cater for everyone. You'll find many age ranges, sexuality, heights, weights, colours, professions etc. Some people assume that when a young gay walks into a bar they'll be pounced on by a plethora of grey wights. Not so.

Avoiding a venue on who you think goes there is going to drastically cut the "scene" for you. And fyi I'm mid twenties and most if not all unwanted attention/uncomfortable feelings came from gays younger than me. Ignore the "oldies" and I'm pretty sure they'll ignore you.

What I'd suggest is going out with the intention of having fun with your mates. Panti is great for pints, cocktails and great tunes. George has a mixture of everything really but can become very packed very soon.

But if you're basing a night out on who you could potentially meet, no one has the answer to that because no one knows who will be out ^^ Same for Tinder. Have an open mind, be safe and sensible, and enjoy the scene in all it's colours.

I agree with everything Ash said. The George is absolutely fine and attracts people from late teens upwards.

There is a couple of different club nights too; prhomo, sweatbox and mother

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Promo is where the baby gays go on a Thursday

There is Prhomo on Thursday. It tends to be just 18-22 year olds

The crowd in the George and Panti tend to be older. IMO they are ten times better. There is little or no petty BS that you will find with some younger gays in Prhomo. People are in Panti/George to have a good time and not preoccupied with others. The crowd Prhomo attracts is not for everyone. Some people love it, while others have no time for it

The George on a Thursday tends to be a younger crowd, as most professionals will be in bed for work on Friday

I haven't been to the George in months now that I think of it, weird how fast this year has gone by!

Op are you a member of your college LGBT soc? See what events they run and where they go out.

George is a lot of fun! for all ages imo. Really nice welcoming atmosphere at it every time Ive gone, its the only club I've gone to where people of all ages mix so freely and its really cool
Prhomo is a fun little club, its a weekly thing on dame lane, its for a very young crowd..almost exclusively 18-23 year olds ..honestly I'm 21 and starting to feel too old for it

Panti bar I found very boring every time I went.
Haven't been to mother yet, but want to try it out. I think its more for a younger crowd 18-30

I've only been to Mother twice but I wouldn't say it was a particularly young crowd there. I'd say 25-40 would've been the general age range, but like I say it was only twice so maybe it depends on the night. First time I went I was very underwhelmed by the music (which was my main reason for going there in the first place) but the second time the music was much better.
