Is it possible to get a dog ie is it fair to get a dog if your back garden is small.
    We're talking 6 x 4 metre garden.

There is ample walking facilities nearby and I would have the time and energy to walk the dog twice a day.

I don't think a garden is super important, a dog wants to be with their humans at the end of the day, the space doesn't matter to them, it matters more to people... after all we don't want to be the one tripping over a dog! lol. It's just up to us to provide ample physical and mental stimulation, a garden is often used by a dog as no more than a toileting area.

The size of your garden is totally immaterial if your dog is an indoors dog - he'll just go into the garden for a sniff and a wee and a sunbathe and a tour of his property, then be straight back into the house to his humans.

When Im outside (we have a few acres) my dogs/cats/hens are out there with me. When I go indoors, unless its sunny and they're sunbathing, or eating a bone on the patio, everyone will troop back indoors with me (the hens will try to come in too, but since they poo they're banned - one of the horses used to try to come in too!!!)

If your dog is walked and is loved, he wont care if your garden is 6x4 metres or 6x4 acres!

Yes we live in a small house with snall garden and have 2 retrievers :) We live beside a park and a short drive to other bigger parks, beaches etc. They snooze most of the day inside!

Yep, terraced house with small garden here and Finn just uses it to eat, pee, and yell back at the neighbour dogs.

I don't think it matters at all. Some may think a dog needs a big garden to run around in but what they really need is good walks in a few different spots so they get both mental and physical stimulation.

I had one of my dogs in an apartment with me for two years. She's a medium sized dog that would need a fair amount of exercise. Not having a garden didn't affect her at all. She got lots of walks.

Actually no garden or a small garden really motivates you to get out and about with your dog even on the most miserable of days.

What a dog wants is to be inside with their humans. They are companion animals. As long as they're with you, they'll be happy. ;)

Just to add to the rest, I have 4 very active dogs here and a pretty tiny garden and house and we do fine, garden is used to get a bit of fresh air, relieve themselves and for the occasional dose of zoomies but rest of the time they're indoors.

Had a very large dog in a very small house with no back garden and we got on great. However, if the dog is going to be pooping in the small garden, you'll have to stay on top of poop collection.

+1 very active labrador in Dublin city centre, walks or preferably swims and he just chills all day! Need to deal with him being alone while young and you'll be good!

I think being willing and able to take the dog out at least twice a day is more important than garden size.
We have a very large garden, and a rescue wedgie and while she loves mooching around the garden at odd times, her favourite thing is inside tripping us up 😀 and going out for twice daily walks regardless of weather.

    Good luck deciding.v
