Tax refund since getting married

I got married about 18 months ago. For most of this time my wife has not been working, so I want to put in for her tax credits in this period and get the refund - a couple of questions.

How do i do this exactly? I have assessable Spouse Election form - so I post it in or do I do it online?

Also, will they look at other areas of my tax while doing this? I am behind on paying my rental income tax but id rather do that seperately. Is that ok os is it joined up?

If you are looking to be jointly assessed then you are looked at as a whole. That's means your 2016 rental income will have to be declared in your annual tax return. You should also be able to put in your marriage details on the return. You can post in the IT2 form or scan to Revenue using your myequires account.
