Left this really late but need advice on where to get a wedding band on a budget. She already has a beautiful wedding ring - platinum with a beautiful solitaire diamond. I've been told I should get platinum for the band but its tends to be extremely expensive. What other options do I have?

You do actually need to get platinum band as far as I know. The two metals side by side need to be the same or one will rub off the other and erode it. Usually couples go shopping and pick their wedding bands together.

Perhaps get a cheap band for a year or two And replace it with platinum when you've saved a bit more?

    Palladium is a bit cheaper...

My ring is white gold and when I asked the jeweller he said not to pay too much mind to the metal rubbing together- it's only an issue if you plan on selling your rings or passing them down through generations. Then the erosion will be a problem but one person wearing rings won't erode enough in their lifetime to be massively noticeable. It all fairness soft metal rings can wear away just from rubbing against fingers.

That's just what one jeweller said to me though so just FYI.

Look up "buy fine diamonds". They are uk based. They may be a bit cheaper or "blue Nile".
