Was looking to go to a late show in my local Omniplex cinema this weekend (Cork) and noticed there was no late shows on any of the listings.

Had a quick look at some of their other Omniplex cinemas around the country and couldnt see any late shows either.

Is this last bastion of the civilised cinemagoer gone for good ? or is it just a temproary glitch.

I have emailed to ask them but no response as of yet

Sligo never had any shows after say 9pm - 9.30pm... unless a midnight showing for a new Marvel movie or the like.

I'd say enough people weren't going to late shows to cover the staff.

A few late shows I went to (a long time ago) had a big problem with assholes arriving in from the pub too. Hard to enjoy a movie with people messing.

Alot of it is down to location i suppose. The ones in Cork always did reasonably well for any of the big films. Generally had no issues due to the location in a suburban shopping centre there was no trouble, as the only ones at the film were people who actually wanted to go there and watch it. No messing with phones, no talking throughout, great atmosphere at any of the big films of the year.

I will never forget going to see Gravity on its opening weekend at a late show and it was nearly sold out, and honestly you could of heard a pin drop at certain times the audiance were so engrossed in the opening shots in space of the earth etc.

I will sorely miss it if its the end of them in Cork.
