Anyone pick this up? Loved the series back in the day and was tempted to get this yesterday but reading it's kind of grindy how you have to keep playing the same course and then you unlock the next course and so on.

Microtransactions, buying courses, etc. is shyte but the game can be got between 30-40 euro atm so maybe it's not so bad?

Any thoughts on it so far?

Picked it up last night and so far I'm enjoying it, yes it's a bit of a grind, still only played the one course, but I'm levelling up my different shots. Haven't tried the multiplayer side of it yet but I'm happy enough with my purchase.

Very grindy at the start, ranking up solo at present and too easy early on, looks like only one shot mode (traditional swing) :(
Looks great and physics are better than the last one imo
Day 1 DLC course and yes lots of micro transactions feckerz
Really disappointed with the loss of advanced swing would have bought it anyway but was a surprise and little to no mention of it online
very big focus on MP which may be good

It's a load of crap that even at launch there are only 5 courses and that there are 2 DLC maps up on the store I think they are €3.99 each plus I think there was a free one for pre ordering the game which I didn't, surely that's going to device the player base with folks who have the maps and those who don't.
Yes it's pretty easy starting off I have won the first 5 events with ease.
There is an Irish youtuber who specialises in Golf games called TheApexHound who has done a couple of walk through videos of the game I bought it after watching his videos on it. Worth the watch

I ordered it on a whim Tuesday night. Haven't played a golf game since that Fiji golf thing on Windows 95 so looking forward to having a bash off this.

Been a while since I've had a golf game to tip away at. Intrigued by this, but a bit put off by the amount of leveling up to be done - any way to just play a round with a decent stats golfer (ala the Tiger Woods games)? Loads of DLC already, but will easily pass on that...Still a shame to see. And is there a decent single player element or is it pretty much a case of go online as soon as your character is somewhat competent?

Last two games had a very small but sound and obsessed player-base. Looking forward to going into the MP, meanwhile the SP slog continues.
You pretty much have to rank up your character as at the outset the stats are abysmal and you need to improve them.
One of the DLC courses is free with pre-order, the other is €6.49, I'll pick it up later this week. Unlike COD or BF DLC courses never seemed to dilute the player-base for the reasons mentioned above ie. obsessed.

I'm not bored of the grind yet. About to get to Rank 3 so hopefully close to the next course.
It plays easier than the Vita version but that could be down to the high frame rate.
Lots to perfect too. I'm still trying to get better at back spin. Finding that timing tough.

for such a simple game it is amazingly intricate. i backspun everything starting off years ago but you really need to read the elevation, lie of the ball, wind and chose the appropriate spin accordingly. i've no access to it for the next few days and am climbing the walls to get back to the grind :)

Got this is the mail yesterday.

Unfortunately, there's no code to redeem, it's just there assigned to me for when I log in.

To be honest, I enjoyed the game for what it was. The online team mode was interesting. I never played any of the previous titles so I'm not "Excited" by the release. I don't know if it has the longevity for me, but can see it as being another 'have a laugh for a half hour with the lads' type game, for me anyway.

Ended up picking this up in the end and it's good fun. Just unlocked the second course, but didn't grow tired of the first (even though I was going -7/-8 on a fairly regular basis). Not too challenging to begin with, but I've seen tougher courses in videos. The computer opponents are yet to provide too much of a challenge, even the VS characters (just played first of Rank 3), but it's a fun game to tip away at.

Yet to go online. That could be a shock to the system...

Been playing it since since the weekend after finishing up Yakuza, forgot how addictive it could be and managed to convert a few people to it after some local multiplayer.

Later on you get to play the ones you beat as revenge characters. Played one the other day and it went Par 4:Eagle Par 3:Ace Par 5:Eagle and that was it. They're not all this bad but they are harder.
