Situation is that I own a house which has been let for approx. 12 years. I do not have a PPR for the last 8 years or so and am renting a house.
I hope to sell the rented property in the next while.
Question is if I do not re-let when the current tenants move out, move into the house myself and claim it as my PPR for a year or so can I avoid CGT when I sell or (as I suspect) do I only avoid a portion of the CGT pro-rata to the 1 year it was my PPR??

    The latter, you suspect correctly.
