Hey guys. My 2nd learner permit is about to expire in about two weeks and I still have 6 edt lessons to go. I heard you can't get a third permit if u haven't taken any tests or failed. Does that mean I have to start from scratch? (Do the theory test again?)

You need to apply for a test. You won't get a date because you haven't completed your edt but you'll get a letter/email to say you've applied and you bring that with you. Your permit can only be for one year.

Will that work? Because I read somewhere that all your EDT lessons need to be done before you apply for a test.

Yes it's fine. I did it last year and used the same letter again this year. Same situation, 6 lessons done.

Same here, it's fine, they'll see it's booked but blocked by EDT. It only lasts a year though!

Basically, this works because without a learner permit, you can't complete your EDT. It's not a loophole or anything like that. Just make a test application and renew your permit and then complete your EDT as above.
