    Hey guys,

First off, thank you everyone for helping me out every single time I ask absolutely anything out here. Greatly appreciated.

I'm just looking to service my Scenic and previously, I've just been going to a motor factors and just buying whatever they suggest. I've gotten Mannol branded 5w30 twice now for two oil changes. Now, I just want to understand basics of purchasing the 'right' oil. Did some googling around and it seems like certain brands have certain 'ratings' so it does seem like brand means something, but at the same time, some people do say that brands doesn't really matter because they all generally come from the same oil company but rebranded, which obviously, confuses some people like me. So yeah, any mini explanation would be great. Basically, I'm looking for what brand, specifications, numbers, ratings, letters, or whatever I should be matching.

    Thank you very much!

Any brand of oil will do as long as it has "RN0700" in the specification list on the back of the bottle.

The RN spec is a Renault approval for use in their engines.

So there isn't a difference whatsoever with the different brands of oils? That's great to know! Thanks a lot!

There's 2 types of oil specifications for Renault if I remember correctly rn0700 and rn0710. Alot of manufactures have there unique codes 501 504 507 it can be confusing!
