Liverpool vs Arsenal, 4pm, Sky Sports PL

Rumours Mignolet has been dropped from the squad, although no reasons why at the minute. If Karius, Lovren and Moreno are starting for Liverpool it'll be a guaranteed high scoring game unless Liverpool's front line have an off day. Could be 5-2, 2-5 or anything in between. I wouldn't be backing a scoreless draw though, so that's probably what'll happen.

Team news released in just under an hour, so we'll find out the truth of the rumours then anyhow.

Koscielny and Sanchez are available for Arsenal for the first time this season, so Arsenal will be more confident than normal I feel (although given how pessimistic fans in general are, I'm sure this'll be denied). Lacazette should have a field day up front against Lovren anyhow.

    More than a rumour. FACHT.

3-3 0-0 or anything inbetween including 4-2 in either direction.

Andrew Robertson is out for the utterly modern reason of becoming a father.

Our defence looks super weak now. Think this will be a behind the couch match.

That Arsenal backline looks no more secure than Liverpools - plan B is on the bench for both teams.

Why is Webeck starting over Lacazette?

Both defences look questionable and that's being kind. Would be shocked if there is not a fair few goals in this one.

Your guess is as good as mine. No idea what Wenger is thinking. Even if he wanted someone more physical up front Giroud would be the obvious choice.

Because Wenger doesn't have a fúcking clue.

I'd guess Welbeck will just run and run at the 'Pool defence only to miss a sitter and to be eventually subbed at 70 minutes.

The defensive selections would suggest they're both going to try!

Danny Welbeck to score a hat trick.

I've just seen that Liverpool haven't won 3 PL games in a row vs Arsenal since 1998. It'd be nice to do that today, but I'm not massively confident I have to say. We need our front lads to perform well to have a chance.

What's up with the backstreet boys line-up pics on sky sports?

Ref change - Atkinson out, Craig Pawson in. Not that it'll make any difference I imagine.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 22,484 ✭✭✭✭citytillidie

Dunno why the keepers have been changed hopefully Karius has a storming game and is not needed to much and the front 3 run riot in the 1st 20 mins like Wednesday night.

Must be as it's the first game of the season, they usually show very little of it. Normal service will be resumed next home game you'd assume. Either way, down to real business now.

    COME ON YOU RED MEN!

Ward on the bench. Ming must've said or done something to be dropped, as his performances have been fine. Karius will drop a major clanger today. At best he'll just put a goalkick out for a corner.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,895 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

''Mignolet waiting waiting waiting until someone shoots in his face''.

    Weird reason to drop him

He might get an assist. GK change as a tactic is weird but as someone mentioned Karius might be a sweeper-keeper today and he is better and quicker with his distribution usually.

Nice Roy Keane story from Lee Dixon, probably the best co commentator around.

Prefer Neville to Alan Smith anyhow, and even Carragher, who doesn't do co-commentary well in my view.

If Ming was on the bench I'd probably agree but dropped from the squad says to me that there's been a disciplinary issue, assuming he's not injured.
