Medical cards - certified accounts

    Hi Guys,

I applied for a medical card back in January 2016, and it is still be processed :(

I work part time from home self employed, mainly because due some health issues it just makes it easier as I can not stand/sit in same positions for long periods.

Anyway, the HSE are asking for my accounts for my biz to be certified by an accountant. As my business is new, I have not filed end of year taxes yet and do not need to for 2yrs. I only make 5-6k self employed and my lowest quote for end of year taxes (so they can be certified) is 240 euros.

My question is, does anyone know if this is what the HSE mean when they ask for certified accounts? Meaning filed end of year taxes and certified by the accountant. They say certified by an account and not filed taxes.

I can not get an answer from HSE, as though they do know or do not give a crap ;(

    Thanks

They need to see some form of independent certification of your income. The onus is on you to provide it. If you can't then they will simply sit back and wait until you do.

See section 4.3 of this link (page 16):- http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/1/schemes/mc/medcardnatassguidelines.pdf

Thanks Squatter, they asked for certified by my accountant so I would imagine if I file my own taxes with a confirmation from the tax revenue then that should be enough. Thanks for the link, I will check it out.
