Some interesting things in this article
The NTA said there were 236 million journeys on public transport last year compared to 210 million in 2013.
Public transport services also received a 23.7 per cent increase in State funding last year, the first significant funding rise in five years.

Funding for public bus and rail services increased from €201 million in 2015 to €246 million in 2016.

Well except that commute time has increased and predicted to in coming years. Steps in the right direction in recent months though I feel there needs to be more frequent changes to keep with demand.

Well I guess that puts to bed the myth that the public transport subsidy has been falling that was often trotted out during the last strike when it was increased by 25% almost in 12 months.

    Encoruaging figures all around.

How much is that down to increased congestion and how much down to people living further and further from Dublin?

I suspect a bit of both.

But I agree we need to see continual, rolling upgrades to public transport. Obviously we need DM/MN and DU, but also more bus priority measures like those on the quays being implemented throughout the city over the next few years and more buses, etc.

BE up 3m despite hefty disruption - wonder what it'd have been without that?

The BE strike was this year - not the period they're talking about.

Previous disruption was minimal by comparison.

Time has become rather compressed for me clearly!
