Alonso on track and BAM engine problem right away. Crawls back to the pits and now let's see if they can fix it.

Also, C4 now claiming (as unconfirmed report) on commentary that Bottas has signed an extension with Mercedes

Onboard shot from Ocon's car through Blanchimont and up to the hairpin was nice. They look so stable, can't wait to see a proper qualy run.

Also red flag as Massa in the barriers. Lost the back end on a kerb and clouted the left hand side. Lot of work to start the weekend for them

Would love to see Kimi win the race this weekend. He has four wins here so a fifth win for him would be really nice. Both Hamilton and Vettel have two wins here but they could possibly overtake Kimi's four wins in the next few years unless Kimi wins here which would make it a bit harder for them to do.

Valltrie Bottas had a bizarre accident and damaged his car. He was slowing down at one of the corners when he realised there was someone behind him and decided to speed up but lost control and the front of the car hit the barrier.

Just seen it there, very strange indeed.

Think he must have spun the wheels and then lost control of it.

Kimi on top in FP1. I really hope he can keep it up. I want to see Kimi win this weekend.

I hope Alonso is sorted for the race.
He has a lot of patience for that team.

Go Kimi. I really think this is Kimi's race to lose. He is on top if he can do it in qualifying then the race is his. Has been a good FP3 session so far much better than the FP2 session.

    Peace and long life.

While I don't necessarily believe FP times because some teams may be sandbagging, the gulf in times between 1st and 10th of 2 seconds is very disappointing for fans. And what's the story with Bottas?

Ye Bottas does not seem to be on form this weekend but maybe his qualifying will be better. Me I want Kimi to take pole and win.

Jesus watching ted kravitz interviewing the drivers is akward and he asked max verstappen about his hand and max looking blankly at him.

You should watch it on C4 we have Coulthard, Webber and the excellent Karun Chandhok. Unfortunately you have to put up with Steve Jones but, I suppose you can't have everything.

Not to mention Susie Wolff. They're currently in the Williams pit talking to mad TT biker Guy Martin, who's in their pit crew this weekend. :pac:

Kimi with some sort of vibration issue. If they can't diagnose and fix it quickly, it will be hard for him to challenge for pole.

Well the radio conversation seemed to suggest it wasn't the tyres.

Jesus the vibrations from those rear tyres wouldn't feel very good to the driver.

Why does the director keep showing us these lingering shots of Alain Prost?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,076 ✭✭✭✭bnt

Hamilton's tyres "tramping" in slow motion ... all that wobbling was like something from a rap video. :o

True, which could mean the cause is mechanical

Can imagine that sort of resonance causing serious damage, very strange that it continued so long. Might need something adjusted

    Sainz well ahead a kvyat

Lewis being warned by his crew about track limits on turn 4 - but he's far from the worst offender when it comes to track limits ...

It's a bit bizarre how Williams with a Mercedes engine are so far off the pace on a power track like this. Almost as if they don't understand their car properly

The presence of Robert Kubica in the Renault camp has really given Joylon the giddy up :) He's doing a good job this week end.

Palmer doing pretty well with his early lap

    Tv director pretty hopeless

It begs the question why he hasn't performed like that for the whole season? What has he changed over the summer break, can you give your car steroids?

Yet again no power for Alonso and McLaren unless he goes with Renault I can still see him staying with McLaren next year more so especially if they don't have a Honda engine

Great to see the Renault team fixing Palmer's clutch problem, quickly enough to get him back out for another good lap. P7 going in to Q3.

Is "no power" Fernando's catchphrase now? I will never buy a Honda in protest at how utterly **** they've been.

Good recovery in the end from Vettel he seemed to be struggling! Should be a tasty one off the line tomorrow.

Congratulations to Hamilton for equalling Schumi's pole record.

Vettel put in a good lap at the end. Hopefully good race into first corner tomorrow

Well that was an exciting qualifying session. A pity that Kimi did not get to start on the front row in the end.

That was an awesome lap by Hamilton do. Vettel also done a really good lap at the end.

Palmer done good do get into Q3 just a pity he did not get to try and keep his 7th place or improve even.

Mclaren and Honda need to sort there **** out. Alonso should have been in Q3.

Hopefully its a good race there is also a big chance of rain.
