It would be very useful to have a declaration of interest thread here. Who is working inside the transport industry? Who are the campaigners? Who are the politicians? Who are the Union reps?

That's a bit high-handed after just one month and 11 posts on boards.

People don't always want to declare that they are insiders, it sometimes attracts the wrong type of attention. I can foresee the situation where somebody is giving us useful advice based on inside knowledge but at the same time they're getting abuse because (e.g.) somebody's bus didn't show up on time this morning.

This wouldn't have anything to do with the recent widespread spamming we've seen here?

There was one such thread once upon a time but for some reason one or other of the mods decided that it was to be no more, and that was that. Given that many users here are educated on transport matters while others work or have worked in the trade, having such a thread may not be a bad thing if only for us all to know where one's opinions are coming from.

I first joined boards when it was known as Cloud boards. I've been around here on and off since 1999. I think I'm as entitled to post and express an opinion as anyone else.

You are entitled to your opinions, but it is not your role to decide what the posting rules should be. Equally there is to be no speculation of the identities of Boards users. If you have any suggestions, PM the mods to discuss

    For clarity:

The members interest thread was removed because it never worked well because (1) it was voluntary and (2) people got overly focused on who the poster was and not the point they were making.
