Getting good user reviews, sounds like a lot of fun. Devs said they are working on bug fixes and rebalancing to fix the issues people have been complaining about as well as looking at what to add to the game in future.

I only gave it a quick 30 mins but so far so good. The look and atmosphere is cool. And it plays like old style GTA as a cop, just that I wanted! Time will tell how the gameplay pans out but excited to dive in more next few days

That would have happened me way sooner than it happened you. Tbh I wouldn't have even bought it.

MTG. My brother was big into that when he still lived in Ireland over the years and used to meet up in different locations(Galway, Dublin and maybe Cork) to play it. He even played it online but I have no idea if he still plays it now.

Looks like the whole Xbox moving to ARM thing has been mostly confirmed, with Qualcomm currently advertising for "Surface and Xbox" ARM roles.

That's going to be worrying for Intel and AMD. I'd say this first generation chip, if they aim for high end, will match their best chips and second gen will see them exceed it. Add to that the low power nature of ARM. Both own ARM licenses so interesting to see if they pivot.

They might not be moving to ARM as such. This could be for a portable console that has been rumoured for a while now. The non portable xboxs could still stay with x86.

Worth sticking with this til the 2 minute mark to see the fruits of his labour:

Indeed, looks like that job listing was for a sales job, so it might not actually be confirmed. AMD are coming out with their own ARM chips, so that might change the equation.

EDIT: I posted without finishing my thought, which is that an Xbox handheld, and indeed Xbox itself, won't survive unless they make an epic shift within the industry, and an "Xbox Handheld" is not enough on it's own. The only thing that seems likely is some kind of fundamental change, and of the fundamental changes possible, the only thing that sounds remotely likely, is an architectural change.

Anyone going to try the blades of fire demo ?

Downloaded it and Captain Blood but haven't tried either yet.

Been playing Doom The Dark Ages today, 4 missions in. Such a step down from 2016/Eternal so far but still enjoying it and a long way to go.

NakeyJakey put out a 90 minute video!

    Nevermind, it's about Counterstrike.

Vid popped up on my Youtube, Symbalily does great playthroughs (Outer Wilds being a standout) and me being a sucker for depressem-ups, gave it a quick look and decided I have to try it for myself. Being an indie, thought it might be PC only but there it is on the PS store…….as a VR exclusive :( Game uses vr or pc webcam to notice when you blink and moves you through memories as you try to piece together important parts of your life.

Googled it and found that it's a free game on netflix and gives you a choice to play with eye detection or turn it off allowing you to click a blink icon instead. Gave a quick go and the blink detection is actually kinda class. Good to know I can turn it off as well though. Anyone else play it? Spose to be a short game.

I am playing GTA San Andreas again. Good to be back in the hood.

Before Your Eyes is decent - not great, but decent. It really rests on its technical gimmick, although to their credit they work to make the most narrative potential out of the premise. The story is more sentimental and overwrought than I personally like, but it's worth a play given the novel central mechanic. My playtime on Steam is 90ish minutes, so it's easily done in one sitting.

Blue Prince seems to be getting people into puzzle games again with rte creating a list of 10 games. Apart from messing up the Snipperclips section, it's pulling from a range from tough to casual.

Never heard of Paper trail so may check it out.

Captain Toad Treasure Tracker is a beautiful simple action puzzler and it's one of the cheaper Switch games, if you haven't played it.

Only other one I've played there is Humanity, which I really enjoyed. Most levels aren't hugely difficult, but there are some definite headscratchers in there which will really challenge you too. Levels never take that long to complete, and I think the game flows really well in terms of progressing with a few puzzles for each new power or function and then moving on, without just throwing numerous repetitive puzzles over and over.

Played all of those except paper trail and viewfinder. It's a pretty good list in fairness.

Not sure I'd count It Takes Two as a puzzle game tbh, much more of an action-platformer with light puzzley elements. Ten slots isn't enough space to push aside actual puzzle games for puzzle-adjacent games IMO :P

I guess not many co-op games like it they could use to replace it.

Only one on the list that I've played in Viewfinder.

I completed it for the 3rd/4th time a few years back and decided it would be my first time trying to get 100% in a GTA. Got to around 85% before fatigue set in but I am determined to continue some day.

I used a guide to find all the horseshoes/clams etc and in doing so, I found a lot of areas that I didn't know existed from previous play throughs. It really was an impressive feat for its day.

Had to google it to see if I'd ever gotten 100% in GTA San Andreas. Think I must have because I'm pretty sure I did have the main reward for doing it (Hydra Jet at Grove St). I definitely did it for Vice City, don't think I ever managed it for GTA3 as I think I missed out on one or two missions for whatever reason, maybe doing them in the wrong order or something.

The San Andreas one is definitely tough. A lot of collectibles and unique stunts in a huge map. Even with guides it was an arduous task.

One of my lasting memories from Vice City was doing the Vigilante Missions but in the Hunter Helicopter. You only had to get to Level 12, but while doing them it ended up sort of glitching for me where most times the thiefs spawned in, they spawned in the water and died instantly. Got to about Level 110 or so as most of the time it instantly awarded me the level, or they'd spawn relatively close to where I was and were easy to pick off. Made about a billion dollars in-game in about half an hour.

I've been playing Blue Prince a lot and really enjoying it. I haven't got Room 46 yet but it's just a case now of getting the rooms to line up for a last run - have managed to get the antechamber and Room 46 doors open but haven't managed to actually get through. I played The Lost City a while back as well and also really enjoyed that. Any other games people might recommend based on those two?

Do you mean The Forgotten City? If not then I'd recommend that one as well as Outer Wilds that ZC said.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 17,868 ✭✭✭✭keane2097

    Yeah, Forgotten City sorry.

I actually have Obra Dinn on Switch and played a decent amount of it but got stuck at some stage and gave up. I will definitely remember to give that another spin.

I tried Outer Wilds once or twice but embarrassingly never managed to get past the tutorial. I really must remedy that. Thanks for the recommendations.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 36,730 ✭✭✭✭Penn

Then yeah I'd say Outer Wilds is your best bet. Can take a little bit of getting used to (particularly not just crashing face first into a planet and instantly ruining your run) but as you get used to it and start figuring things out, the game really shines. So damn good.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,555 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

There's some great threads online where people give hints on obra dinn, just morcels of info to put you in the right direction and then further and further hints the more you're stuck. Dinner t very tricky parts in that game and a hint here or there can get you over the hump.

Outer Wilds doesn't really have a tutorial, did you play Outer Worlds? Outer Wilds starts you on a planet where you need to get the launch code for a rocket take off once, you do, you explore the other planets with a brilliant game mechanic twist. Seriously, Outer Wilds deserves sticking with, it became my favourite game of all time.

Found in Obra Dinn that there's a point where you get very stuck and then after you get over that it all starts falling into place as you start thinking like how the game expects you to think.
