My doctor has referred me for an ultrasound on my neck (family members have problems with their thyroids). Has anyone here any experience of this ultrasound? Do I need to fast beforehand? Thanks

I've had a thyroid ultrasound and didn't have to fast, it's just on your neck. While it's a bit uncomfortable it's not painful. Takes about 15 minutes.

Thanks Wyldwood for your quick reply. Did you get feedback at the time or have to wait to hear from your own doctor?

I had my ultrasound in the Bons Secours, Cork and had to wait for the report to go to the endocrinologist. It took about 2 weeks if I remember rightly, it was a few years ago.
