If it was going to affect me getting car insurance, no, I'd probably play dumb

Sure they still think it's a 1.3 on the book!

I have done in the past and would do so again to the best of my ability if I decided to go down that road in the future.

The problem here is that insurers make it nearly impossible to do so. You can be as upfront and honest with them as you like, offer to get before/after dyno results with an engineers report etc... and the underwriters for most of them still won't listen and you get a blanket no once "performance increase" is confirmed.

An increased premium/loading on my policy is fine by me, as are modifications not being covered as the result of accident damage etc... but this, along with me never having any claims/judgements against me, or even a single penalty point in my entire driving history is apparently not good enough for the possibility to even be considered for cover. Frustrating.

Seeing as I've never remapped a car/had a car remapped and the only car I want to get remapped is virtually unmappable I highly doubt this will apply to me.

    No map to declare!
