Hoping it's not just a three exclusive again, although that wouldn't surprise me really.

I'm due a change/upgrade with Three, might wait the few weeks, see what the deals are like.

The normal one is dual sim

I think there is a single and a dual sim model, dont think the one on AMazon is dual or would have been mentioned.

I,m not 100% but i think they are all dual sim, some sites might describe them as single sim but its a single sim and micro sd card slot, which can also be used as another sim instead of an sd card

I really doubt Nokia won't make a single sim variant, since networks will shun dual sim options and that's a big market to deny yourself

Hi droidman, I've checked that before on another thread but they were saying Carphone Warehouse wouldn't accept orders from the south as the card address must match the delivery address.

A friend of mine is interested in buying it, the free watch would be nice but its the phone they want.

The battery on my Sony z5 compact barely lasts 6 hours right now and I have been hovering over buy on the One Plus 5 for weeks now, any sign of the Nokia 8 being released in Ireland soon?

I ordered one on carphone warehouse UK but they cancelled :(

    Thanks for the advide droidman123.

What they did was order it but rather than trying to have it shipped they selected click and collect. The order seemed to go through, as there is a confirmation number. Seems its easier doing it that way, it's a pain having to travel up but its only an hour each way to Newry.

Should be getting it tomorrow if all things go well and they don't reject it.

    Hi Soccarboy,

yea I did get it myself. I had the 3 a few months and although I did like the phone for me at least it just lacked a few features I wanted upgraded such as the camera.

I've had the 8 over a week now and I'm really loving it. It has the stock android which I loved about the 3, and its overall a smooth experience using it.

I recorded some videos at the RHCP concert last week and the sound quality was great. The OZO sound when you use your headphones is great, no distortion or anything.

I got my Nokia 8 today (ebay from the UK). Not much chance to play with it yet (stupid work getting in the way), but it feels like a premium device. Easy set up and very snappy.

I'm noticing a few things that were Sony only, and not present on stock android. Having to press enter after putting in your PIN is slightly annoying.

I see the Nokia 8 is available from eGlobal for €337 which seems like a great price when compared to other Snapdragon 835 powered phones.

My two year old Honor 7 is starting to give me trouble, first with battery life and now with random reboots.

I had been considering a Xiaomi Mi A1 but that seems like a sideways move in many respects.

What I really want is a OnePlus 5T but can't justify the big price tag.

The Nokia 8 at this price seems like a good compromise, a decent if not outstanding phone and a good improvement on the Honor 7 which should last me 2 years.

Any owners who can give me some feedback?

Can anyone suggest a better phone for this money or give me a good reason to avoid the Nokia?

Tempted by the Nokia 8 as it seems to be the best price to spec ratio at the moment.

How's everyone finding it after prolonged use? Any negatives?

The alternative would be to wait for this years phone releases but they'll be priced a lot dearer initially.

I don't have mine that long, about 10 days now, but so far I am really happy with it.

I bought from eGlobal, ordered on a Sunday evening and it arrived on the Monday of the following week. It's the Chinese dual sim model TA-1052 it came with the official hybrid crystal case.

The charger has Chinese two prong connections, it came with a very good quality converter plug but it is very bulky.

The phone is really smooth and fast, a huge improvement on the Honor 7 I previously had. It's particularly noticeable how much quicker large game apps open.

Battery life is excellent, I have had the phone on since 5am this morning and after a normal days use it is still at 54%, the Honor would probably have been at or below 25% by now. Even with very heavy usage I have never been worried about running out of power during the day, hopefully it continues like that!

The phone was just upgraded OTA to Oreo 8.1 today, Nokia seem to be committed keeping their phones upgraded to the latest version and are quick with issuing the latest security patches.

I certainly have no hesitation in recommending it.

Hi. I am interested about buying nokia 8. Could you post the website for eglobal? Was it shipped from EU? Did you pay tax etc? Thanks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,748 ✭✭✭Do-more

Just Google "eGlobal central" and you will find them.

They ship in to the EU in bulk from Hong Kong and then you get tracking details for the final delivery. In my case it came to the UK and was then delivered by DPD.

    No taxes to pay.

The phone is a Chinese model so is not covered here by Nokia's warranty. If you have any problems you have to send it back to eGlobal's European service centre.

I payed for the extra "insured delivery" from reading other threads there seems to have been a lot of phones go missing in transport with DPD and if you haven't paid the insurance then it seems that eGlobal aren't of much assistance and DPD only want to deal with the sender and not the end customer.

If I were to got one through Three, would Three control (aka restrict) system updates from the manufacturer? I hear Three's stock are all unlocked...

I have had it since September and after updating to Oreo 8.1,most problems have been fixed.

Looks like a really nice device. Set to cost around 600 euro or so and available in September in Europe, most likely not going to the US. Flagship specs too

Aye (I'm soccarboy11 btw, new account, hated old name )

I heard about the 9 as well. I think they messed up with the Nokia 8 sirroco, last year's specs with a hefty price tag is pretty eh. The 9 has been rumoured for a whule now. Interesting if they will call it the 9 even considering they have a Nokia 9 tablet.

Is the Three model dual SIM? There seem to be to variants based on https://www.gsmarena.com/nokia_8-8522.php

Is the Three model unlocked? Is it better to buy this one or the one from Amazon uk for a not Three customer?
Never dealt with Three, so I don't know what to expect)
