I got new keys programmed on my 2013 duster today ...all well.
During the operation the radio was removed from its insert and replaced ...the code was required to reset /reinstall radio.
I now see that the radio stations are not being retained.
    This never happened before.
    Why could this be?

I did notice the technician appeared to be photographing the radio ..from all angles ..on his own mobile ...before he re inserted it.
Found this very strange at the time ...but dismissed it ..I'm now wondering about that as the stations are not being retained.
    Advice appreciated

If the radio was removed for a length of time then it's memory would have been lost due to the loss of power from the battery. Any of the saved stations in it's memory would have been lost also.

Was this at a main dealer?

Can't see any reason to remove the stereo to code a key.

Unless of course your car wasn't on charge while connected to the diagnostic computer which may have let your battery go flat, which would explain him needing the radio code and possibly your car not retaining your present stations but for either of those things to have happened, your battery would have to be on its last legs anyway.

Oh ya sure. I have saved stations since presuming it was disconnected as you rightly suggest ...so ..after putting back in the presets ...each time I turn off car and park up they are gone again.
I am presuming that the permanent live..has been incorrectly wired back or damaged ..thus causing the presets to continually disappear.
Just seeking advice as to any other possible cause.
    Thks for reply

I hope they haven't damaged my battery only got it serviced last week ..no issues then. It started on first go ...(ill be annoyed if it doesn't start in the morning) .no it was not a main dealer ..just a key place (reputable)
Though it took 4 hours or more to do ...

I found it very strange that this guy was photographing the radio before he put it back in ..on his own mobile ...it's connected someway I'd imagine to the later radio problems. Now I'm wondering from your post why did he go near it at all?

Honestly, the whole thing is plastered in red flags and alarm bells to me.

Sounds like they've fecked something up but hard to say what.

Coding a key should take 15 minutes tops, generally speaking and no need to strip anything out.

It sounds like they didn't connect it up properly when putting it back in. There should be a permanent live connection to the battery so that the radio's memory stays intact. I'd be heading back to them with it to sort it out.
