    Hi there

My current job role is changing and we have the option of applying for volentary severance or a different role in the company.

Am I allowed to apply for voluntary redundancy to see how much I am entitled to as this will help my decision as to stay or go.

Or does the rules of voluntary redundancy differ from company to company ?

When I was made redundant previously there was a 30 day consultation period and the redundancy wasn't official until that period ended and the documents were signed so we were able to query our payments etc before agreeing to it. Is it a case that your role is being made redundant but you can transfer or are they offering the option to move people with a higher tenure from the business as a voluntary severance package because there is a difference. Redundancy is tax free whereas severance isn't as far as I'm aware.
I'm sure that someone should be able to give you an idea of the package, whether it is the basic mandatory for redundancy (2 weeks per year of service +1 extra week) or more. You'd be able to work it our roughly yourself.
