    That infrastructure fee was what the county council used to charge before IW took over, so if you had been building 5 years ago you would have had to pay it then. It's the cost of getting that pipe to where it runs past your house and for the treatment works and storage and maintenance etc.

    If you want free water, which your post implies, why not sink a well and maintain that - I'm betting you would be happier with maintained potable water on demand than that headache.

    I would love a well but its not viable on the land due to soak pits and septic tanks in the vicinity ......
