I have a friend who is currently living in a B&B in Dublin with her daughter.

She knows someone in Galway who is willing to rent her a property and accept Rent Allowance.

So she went to her local housing people and they told her that she'll have to move to Galway and make her application there.

Is this right? She is not Irish so I'm wondering if something was lost in translation. It seems a bit mad that the councils can't communicate with each other and help her to arrange this.

Also in other news the council pay E4000 per month to the B&B for her room. What a total waste of money.

That's correct she will have to take her name off the housing list and then reapply in Galway
