If you download the new trial version (link below) (requires microsoft account), and then cancel it, you will receive the 3 month voucher by email within a week.
The voucher can be redeemed several times
The voucher is not linked to the account
The maximum time seems to be until the year 2020.

Says "Codes for additional free months must be redeemed by December 15, 2017."

Also availability is US, UK and Canada, although I'm sure you could probably work around that.

Yep, you can redeem them all as soon as you get the email.

You can bring your Playlists to it too (which is very handy if you have a DAP).

So what you're saying is you could avail of a bucket load of vouchers, apply them to one account and it'll be eligible up until 2020?

    Nah they've fixed that exploit.

That was the case. It seems that anyone that did avail of it may be able to keep their subscription unless Microsoft disable the account (but it is unlikely).

Yep, I thought so too. But i believe that it is only the released codes that have been blocked, the ones that are still arriving to people today are being reported as still working, so i guess time will tell to anyone who has signed up.

On another forum somebody mentioned it was a promo, that they have purposely done this and will 'fix' it at x amount of accounts. It is probably more effective and cheaper than heavy marketing.
But that could be 100% bull.

That is it, just cancel the auto-renew so that you are not charged when the trial ends,

Nope, and the link is still giving the "Free 4 months" offer. Probably trying to plug the hole for the stackable codes.
We may get it before the 30 days is up.

Not yet, but T&C says that codes will be emailed within 30 days.

Didn't get either, and have given the Android App a good chance.

Honestly its garbage. Looses connection for no good reason and then just freezes. UI says its playing and pausing on click, but there's no sound! Only remedy seems to be a force close and restart. The UI isn't great. Notice you have to long press for some functions, even adding a track to a play list. Just too clunky.

Don't bother with it, just look for a family spotify instead. There's no comparison.

(I actually pay a microsoft sub for office 365 personal which is good value, especially when you compare other decent suppliers of 1 terabit cloud storage, so I was hoping this product might be better)

Have to agree, a really dreadful app. Doesn't cache any music for offline use or even if mobile reception drops for a few minutes, have to select download on each track. Widget doesn't work half the time, a playlist wont go back to the first song or anything when finished, just stops and waits for user input.
I've used Deezer, Google Music and Spotify and all are streets ahead of Groove Music.

Still, while it is free it is a bargain.... ;)

Right, coming up to the end of my first month. Did anyone get any codes? Just reading this thread properly and will turn off the auto-renew today....will it work? has it worked for anyone?

I haven't got any codes yet and I don't care. It is an absolutely atrocious app.

Didn't get either, and don't care. Its terrible, don't bother investing time and effort into it even if you manage to get 4 months free

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 973 ✭✭✭phunkadelic

Can't see how it's any worse than the rest.
Same music available as far as I can see. Similar functions etc. Similar suggestions and recommendations.

I have tried them all and can see hardly any difference in any of them. I've been flitting around between free trials on all of them for years now.

I have used both the android app and the desktop version. Desktop version is nicely integrated into Windows which is better than itunes. While wearing a set of Logitech cans, when adjusting the volume, the song playing is shown beside volume slider. Like other apps such as iTunes, the headphones buttons allow you to toggle back and forward on the tracks. But being able to see the tracks automatically on screen when you do this is the real bonus.

Back to the original question, did anyone get extra trial time yet?

It's a poor app in quite a few people's opinion and they've commented as such. I don't see anyone being dramatic at all.

It was in response to the two above. You made valid points.

Microsoft is announcing that its Groove Music Pass is coming to an end, with sales in the Store for music and its pass ending December 31. The streaming portion of Groove Music will continue to function until December 31, after which the service will be turned off for good. Refunds will be issued in a pro-rated fashion from the December 31 date.

Microsoft are actually moving all Groove Music Pass customers over to Spotify would you believe:
