    It's either a Jack-in-the-pulpit, or another related plant whose name I can't remember at the moment. Let me see if I can dig it out.

    Found it - if it's not a Jack-in-the-pulpit (Arisaema triphyllum), it's an Arum maculatum.

    Both are poisonous plants.

    Arum lilies can also be called Jack in the Pulpit - which is why using the botanical name clears things up nicely!
