Italy with 2 young children

    Hi all,

OH and I are planning a trip to Italy for April 2018 with our two children, the first will be 3 and the second will be 8 months or so (due any day now!). We've never visited Italy before and we're not really sure where to start.

We were in La Rochelle with our first last summer and it was fantastic - a great mix of a nice town, relaxed atmosphere, but good opportunities to get out on boat trips too. Anything similar would be ideal, we're planning to travel later in April after the Easter break. Would prefer not to have to do much by car - the more we can use public transport the better!

    Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

Only thing about Lake Garda is that weather is likely to be unsettled there in April. Otherwise, stunning place

Lido di jesleo is very nice and family friendly. I go there every year

I reccomend the south of Italy maybe Sicily. As the weather in the north in general can as you said be a bit unsettled in April. I went to Sicily last April and weather was good similar what you'd get on a good summers day here in Ireland. Palermo is a lovely city and a good base if you don't have a car. Cèfalu is nice seaside town a little under from Palermo by train.

+1 for the lido in general.

We stayed in Union Lido but there are numerous sites along the lido

Bus runs past the entrance to most sites and takes you to the ferry terminal where you can get the ferry to Venice or sightseeing trip to the other islands

Lido Di Jesolo is also on the coast and have a massive aqua park

I was close to Venice a few years ago in April and my dad goes there every year out of the main season.
This whole part of the northern coast line is very empty before and after the main season and you can't really do a beach holiday, the water isn't warm enough.
Sicily is a lot nicer in April.

It is but there is no beach/sand considering you are bringing young children.

I would suggest Grande Metairie in Carnac, France.
