    Hi,

I went for a promotion last year and have been told that I will be receiving my contract in the next week or so. I know from other people who have been promoted, that you are not told where you will be moved to until after you sign the contract. I'm worried I'm going to be moved further from where I live and the extra travel will not be worth it while my kids are small. I'm only finished maternity leave and have other young children. Does anyone know anything about this?

Was the promotion internal or Inter-Departmental?

If it was internal talk to your HR about your predicament.

If it's Inter-D then talk to your HR as well but also talk to PAS about your predicament.

It's within nobody's interest to place you in a post that you are unable to perform in for whatever reason.

You might also talk to your EAO - www.cseas.per.gov.ie

There's something wrong with the situation if you don't have a clue where you are going.

Ask your HR if it's internal.

Ask publicjobs.ie if it's an open competition.

Thanks for your reply. It was an external competition for revenue. I have asked where I'm going and they have said once contracts have been signed they will confirm where I'll be located but it's all down to business needs

    I know. It's very frustrating.
