To Ireland? Really - I've always seen shipping on orders over £25 to me (outside Prime) ...?

    I thought everyone knew this!
It actually makes amazon more money in the long run as people desperately pad out their orders with stuff they don't really need just to get free shipping.

Yes, but your orders have to be "Sold by Amazon" or "Fulfilled by Amazon" items.

Absentia was added to Amazon Prime Video yesterday. Watched the 1st episode which laid the story line. Was good enough. Will watch more later.

She disappeared. No one heard from her for six years. No one knows what happened to her, not even her. An FBI Agent tracking a Boston serial killer vanishes, and is declared dead. Six years later, she is found in a cabin in the woods, with no memory of what happened during the time she went missing. She comes back to a husband who has remarried, and whose wife is raising her son. She will have to navigate in her new reality, and she will soon find herself implicated in a new series of murders

I had the same problem, had to return the firestick to Amazon UK (you'll get a refund) and buy the other one from the US. Select your country from the drop down list. It works but it's dearer that the UK. Costs about $87 US Dollars with delivery and customs added. You can use the same username and password for the UK and US version.

Will Prime Video definitely work in Ireland on this Fire Stick imported from the States? I also bought a stick from Amazon in the UK before Christmas and was really disappointed that I couldn't access Prime Video. Would be tempted to buy the American one if Prime Video DEFINITELY worked on it here in Ireland.

It definitely works as I'm using the one I bought from the States. It still doesn't have a great movie list like the UK version but hopefully that will improve.

I also find it useful to watch ALL4 for channel 4 and the Walter Presents programmes.

I use this website to find out if there's anything new added https://www.justwatch.com/ie/new?providers=nfx,prv,ply,skg

Thanks. I'm going to order one so! I think Prime Video has improved greatly over the past year (it was pretty awful when it originally launched).

I was going to ask you about ALL4 so thank's for confirming that.

Did you have to pay the VAT on it when it arrived here or do you pay it at the Amazon checkout?

You pay VAT at Amazon checkout. Overall cost for me was $87.29

Don't tell anybody, but I signed up before the Christmas after last Christmas (13 months ago) but I'm still only been charged €2.99 a month, is this happening to anybody else ?

You might be right, I have €2.99 deducted from my account and was wondering what it was. I won't know till Monday when the bank update details and I didn't buy anything for that price.

    We won't tell anyone ;):D

It was supposed to go up to 6.99 after 6 months

It was to go up to €5.99. I checked my account and it says
On March 2, 2018 you will be charged EUR 2,99 for a month of Prime Video.

Your promotional pricing expires on April 2018 or 6 months from the start of your subscription, whichever is later.

Looks like it will be €2.99 next month until they fix the glitch in the matrix.

I'm member since August 2017 which makes the February month 7. Will have to wait till next month.

  • Registered Users Posts: 172 ✭✭delboy85

I'm pretty sure I got a message from them a few months ago advising that the €2.99 promotional period was being extended (for me anyways).

I have an account but the only thing that concerns me is your shopping account and video are linked so if you gave a password to someone they could by stuff on the shopping site and its charged to your card that's registered . Tried to setup an other acount on just prime and it's linked to the main amazon site

Did you use the same email address?
Make sure you are completely signed out of your main amazon account and start a new account with a new email address.

Used main account at first then set up an other account with a new email address on the prime site. When you go to the main site it allows you use your video account that's signed in. So if your card is linked on video it's linked on the main witch and if you share the your video password with your kids there nothing to stop them from shopping on the main site

I got my stick from The States this morning and am really happy with it. I just wish I'd read this thread before ordering one from the the UK before Christmas!

Thanks again for flagging the fact that the "international version" could be ordered from Amazon in The States. :)

Check under Account & Settings, there is a Parental Control option which might stop them going on a shopping spree :)

EDIT might be just to stop them purchasing apps, not too sure if it's to stop them buying on the main amazon website

as far as I know, you get prime video on its on which I have but will need to pay extra to get full access to all available with a Prime account. I'm still paying the offer rate for now. Might look into it when I'm paying full price for Prime video

No. You just have Prime Video, not the whole Amazon Prime stuff, that's UK only.

How on earth do they not have S2 of "The Man in the High Castle" on this? It's their own bloody show!

Film selection is shockingly poor: Why isn't "Manchester by the Sea" or "The Big Sick" there, when they were both acquired by Amazon studios?

Will watch some of their other originals - those they let me see - but woeful content choice compared to Netflix.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,056 ✭✭✭steve_r

It's bizarre alright. They never seem to announce new content added like Netflix do.

There's other Amazon shows as well (that czech police thing) that don't seem to be on the Irish version?

Ah yeah, that was my bad there - when you do a Search, it shows results per season so Season 2 would have come up separately. An odd system.
Still doesn't explain some of the films missing.

I signed up the other day for the general Prime having used the UK one before.

God it's terrible even for €2.99 a month for a while after the free trial I'm not sure it's worth it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,096 ✭✭✭Occono

Even with newer added content, not all stuff is going to the Irish version too. Scrubs was added on Monday to the UK version but not the Irish version.

  • Registered Users Posts: 862 ✭✭✭Marje

€2.99 is usually deducted from my account by the 5th of each month. They haven't taken any this month yet.

I can use the amazon fire stick to view ALL4 but it's asking me to sign up for Prime if I try to watch any tv shows on Amazon.

It seems to have automatically cancelled my subscription instead of just going up to the full price of €5.99.

It let me sign up again for another 6 months at €2.99.

Not to sure what's going on. I'll take the €2.99 for now. :D

Anyone figure out how to share it . I setup a household account with my partner but prime video isn't working for her , and can't see any option for it

Does any know when The Walking Dead Season 8 might be available on Prime Video for Ireland?

And I'm guessing Ripper Street is not available in Ireland because it s part owned by the BBC. Is it likely to be on this streaming service anytime soon?

Has anyone noticed a sizeable reduction in the library of movies on here, particularly newer ones? I signed up in March / April and there were some reasonably recent movies, e.g. Miss Sloane, along with some cult hits like Four Lions. I saves a lot in my watchlist and a few weeks later found them all gone. Now their man banner ad seems to be American Gangster which came out an age ago. No complaints from a tv show perspective, but the selection of movies is pretty embarrassing. Seems so much better even in the UK - can distribution agreements be that different?

Their movie selection was always rubbish in my opinion. Only for the tv series, I wouldn't bother with it.

They seem to have acquired quite a few ABC TV series lately - Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Agents of Shield, among others. And the US version of the Office, Grimm, and Outlander. And we’ve mentioned The X Files of course.

Not looking quite as bare as it was at launch, if still quite a long way to go.

One thing I love about prime video that I wish Netflix had is the x-ray functionality. I used think it was a load of nonsense, but I really came to like it. Was watching a movie on Netflix yesterday, wanted to see who an actor was, tried for the xray and got annoyed it didn't work...

Amazon also owns IMDB they would never licence it to Netflix to use it in a similar manner.

Managed to find movies like Moonlight and The Florida project which where big Indie hits on prime but you would never know they where there as they seem to be buried in with a lot of other shlock. Didn't realise the Americans and The US Office (which was a big loss on Netflixs part) where on Prime.

Decent horror collection if your into 70s, 80s trash which Netflix wouldn't bother picking up but I loved digging up in the VHS store in the 90s :D.

You can borrow it from your library. Might take a couple of weeks for it to be sent to Sligo.

I am a prime member on co.uk, it is a while since I tried to use Video but when I did it would show me lots of content but when I tried to watch some would get region lockout errors.

Is there some way I can have it only show me available content?

Aye the movie selection has always been a huge disappointment, I emailed them numerous times and got the usual effusive Amazonian response promising to improve, they never did and I gave up. The worst part is that we must have the worst of any country, if you really want to annoy yourself you can add the / and country code to the justwatch website (below) and view other markets just to make you appreciate how little you get for your money here Vs. other countries.

    https://www.justwatch.com/ie or /de etc

In a way it makes you appreciate Netflix more as they put the same content in both Ireland & UK (where distribution rights are largely similar) albeit the pricing differential has crept up over the years. NOWTV less so as although they also have the same content here as the UK their pricing model in Ireland Vs the UK (and their other countries) is a complete gouge, especially so on the ENT stuff (but I digress...)

You need to use primevideo.com in Ireland.

    Hi,

I've recently signed up to Prime in Ireland, prim-e-arily (pun intended) for the streaming content.

Online at primevideo.com I seem to have a decent selection of stuff, particularly with the TV series' available (Preacher, Mr. Robot, Vikings, American Gods, Bosch,etc..) but when I go to my smart TV (Panasonic) and log in to the Prime app many of these same shows are not available in my region?

Would that be right or have I done something wrong?

I would be very disappointed if I can watch those shows online but not on my smart TV.

Can anyone shed any light on this please?

    Your sincerely,
    Kooljohn74
