illness benefit medical assessment

I'm claiming illness benefit since around May. I got a form during the week for my GP to fill in giving details about my symptoms, medications etc and confirming that I'm fit to attend a medical assessment. How long should I be waiting to be called? I'm really nervous about it as my GP said I will be disallowed but we should get it back on appeal. Before I went into him with the form I thought it would just be a formality, as I'm no where near fit to work. I have a holiday booked next month and I'm terrified the appointment is going to clash with it. Don't think they'll take to kindly to it!

Might be a silly question sorry if it is,is illness benefit another name for disability benefit or is it something different?

Yeah they're different payments. Disability is for conditions expected to last for a year or more. Illness is for everything else.

Ah ok was just asking as im on disability allowance myself.in my case i just went to my gp got him to fill out a form and sent it off.i didnt have to go anywhere myself.wouldnt think they will say anything just because your applying for illness benefit doesnt mean you cant go anywhere until your assest. If they fall on same time just send call them and say you had an important trip booked before hand an can you get a new date

Thanks. I'm just paranoid now. I really wish my GP hadn't of told me I'll be disallowed. I'm thinking of them as being monsters now!
