CCTV DVR over CAT 5

    Hi

I am looking for a recommendation of a DVR CCTV system for a new home/renovation.

What I would like for CCTV

    - A reasonable amount of playback recording
    - X2 external 1080p cameras to start
    - Internal ones perhaps later
    - Night-vision
    - I would like to be able to display output of the DVR on some TVs around the house. (can I use co-ax for this?.... other ways?)
    - Remote App access to view the cameras. Ideally not a subscription service. I can set NAT and access on router if needed.

The house was a full rewire job so I had ethernet and coax run throughout at the same time.

What I have now: (everything below runs back to a central data room (coat closet))

    - X1 CAT 5 presented externally over front door for camera to show driveway. (No camera installed yet)
    - X1 CAT 5 presented externally over back door for camera to show garden. (No camera installed yet)
    - CAT6 Lan cable ran from all rooms back to central network switch in data room. Switch is plugged into the skybox to share internet to all ports.
    - Wifi internet throughout house
    - TV coax ran from all rooms back to data room

Plans for when I get around to to it:

    - Network storage NAS array in data room. Few terabytes to create a cloud in the house.

    So in summary

My preliminary plans are to use the CAT5 with baluns to run BNC video and power cameras off the other pairs.
Id like the DVR to be as smart as possible, a server I guess for remote access.
Id like to use the coax to export the video to TVs around the house but not sure this is possible? There are also cat6 runs available for this.
Im emotionally invested in my CAT5 at this stage so wont be going with wireless cameras externally
Looking for recommendations of a kit to start

    Any thoughts?? :)

    Looks good.

You can have a spot out on the DVR which will allow you view on the TVs,
Another option is using an android box and run the app through this on the TV.
Hik Vision would be the most popular in terms off CCTV used.

As already mentioned HIK VISION or Dahua both great kit free app and you buy what ever size hard drive you need for 4 cameras full HD 4tb will give you 6 weeks.

I have similar requirements. Currently using a Synology NAS with Samsung SNO-6048R camera via Netgear switch with PoE capability.

A few months ago I would not have recommended the Synology as I was unhappy with the (video recording review) software. I made a note to look into alternatives such as Zoneminder (open source), and I may yet do it, but it's not urgent as things have improved a lot.

You can get a cheap two disk Synology NAS for relatively little.
