Is there somewhere near dublin 2 i can go to get part of a metal frame cut to size and to have 4 holes drilled into it.
I want to put a 4x3 inch piece of metal behind the 2 locks in my door frame to make it stronger and more secure .
something like this but the metal would be half a inch thick.
I will be getting a new door fitted in the frame in 2 weeks
to make it more secure and i,ll be fitting a 5 lever lock .

Can u draw a sketch and post it up: hard to follow
Locks are normally on the doors..
4 by 3 is very small and half inch plate is way over the top

This metal goes behind the reciever unit, part of the lock,
it means the reciever unit cannot be pushed in ,
as theres a long piece of metal holding it in place,
i,ll post a drawing to show what i mean .
I,d like to get a piece of metal cut so it fits exactly in the door frame,
but theres holes so i can use screws to secure to the wall ,
Which means it cannot be moved ,
even if the door frame is damaged.
this is my own design ,
i cant just go to a hardware store and buy one.
Since i live alone i have to be sure the door is secure if i go away for 2 weeks.

Send your sketch to www.cnclasercutting.ie for a quote.
    I'd say you'll be ok with 6mm. (1/4")

Here.s a drawing .The piece i have is too small, i need a piece 3 inch long x2 inch wide ,1/4 or 1/8 thickness .

Yes thats exactly what i,m trying to do.
ie put a piece of metal behind the lock reciever to make it more secure .

It's a fairly easy job to make that piece. It's basically a bit of 50 x 50 mm angle steel with a few holes drilled in it. If your stuck, I could make it for you.

However,if you are getting a new 5 lever lock set up, does this not make this idea redundant ?

If you are in dublin pm me .gen zhukov.
i have all the metal pieces .i just need em cut down to size.
to match the frame to reciever distance,
    5 inch approx.
The door opens to the inside so the metal piece must be slightly smaller than the metal lock socket .
I.m putting in the small top lock first before i put in the 5 lever lock.
    top lock is like this

i want 2 locks to be strong and secure ,
    so idea is not reduntant,
if i,m going out for 1 hour i,ll just lock the top lock.
