I Need advice. I currently have an iPhone 5s. After 3 years it is now slow keeps freezing etc and I need an upgrade but I am confused about what iPhone to get or should I wait until the 8 comes out?

Im between the iphone 7 and the plus. I am conscious about the size of the plus. My friend has the standard 7 and compared to my 5s it is still very big in comparison.
Secondly I don’t know what GB to go for. I currently have 16gb and it flashes every second day to say memory is full however I have all the apps I want really so should I go 32 gb or 128gb? I like taking pictures and at the minute have over 2000 gathered from 2011 to now.
Thirdly.. should I go bill or buy outright? Those who have the 7 did you buy or go bill? I bought my 5s as I didn’t want bill but the 7+ is over 800-900 so bill is appealing.

    All advice appreciated thank you

I'd wait until the new phone is released. There will an announcement at some point in September (probably early in the month). The new phone will then be released either at the end of September, or within the first week or two of October. Even if you have no interest in buying the new model, the older models will be reduced.

As for your other questions, they are personal preference though. I prefer having music/photos on my phone and not having to sync with the cloud a lot, so I have a 64GB iPhone 6 at the moment, and will be going to the 128GB 8 I would say. I also hate being tied into bills so I usually buy sim free, but it is a big outlay up front. I use the 30 day sim only plans for whatever network is the best at the time.

    128gb iPhone 7 Plus.

After using it for a little while you won't be able to go back to using a smaller display, it's simply stunning.

If you like taking pictures, the camera on the 7 + is outstanding, and is really a lot lot better than the 7.

128gb. Live Photos, portrait mode and 4K are excellent features and deserve the extra spend.

If it was me though I'd wait until September.

As to go bill or not, do the math of buying the phone outright plus a sim only contract vs getting phone on bill pay. They generally work out +/- €100 so it really depends if you can afford the upfront cost of buying the phone outright. Oh and for the love of my sanity don't put yourself in debt for a phone. So many people here do this and it boggles my mind.

If you are happy with the size of the 5S .... the SE 64gb is great value @ €369

Near identical in spec to the 6S .. battery life supposed to be the best in an iPhone

    Link

Otherwise wait til Sept/Oct as others have said

If you do any video recording then you need the larger one. If it's just photos, you could get away with the smaller but you will probably need to move photos to a computer every so often.

For me 2 year Vodafone contract was the best value.

How big are your pockets? That question applies physically and metaphorically when deciding on which size device and which size storage to get. I couldn't have a Plus in my pocket all day it would drive me mad. But I do think 64GB is the minimum you need if you like your camera and you are upgrading.

But wait for September anyway. *Apparently* a big redesign is imminent, though I'll believe it when i see it. At any rate the 7/7 Plus will be cheaper and loads will be sold off by people to fund the new model.

    +1

I'll probably be selling off my 7-128 if there's a big upgrade to video capabilities in the next version.

iOS 11 is due soon and will consume a lot, the 128gb will help here.

32gb is now the minimum for any new iPhone, and also from a resale point of view, minimum spec phones are most common and harder to sell. 128 or 256gb phones would be future proof and appeal to a wider market secondhand.

Factor in the insurance cost - losing a €1,000 phone just after signing a 2 year contract at €80 per month would be painful.

Iphone 8 (or whatever it will be called) is definitely happening.

Lots of leaks out from good sources.

It will look something like this.

I'm surprised there's not much chat about it on this forum.

Wiill be pricey though rumoured to be more than €1k

I've been underwhelmed by *big* releases before. But if the phone does turn out like some of those leaks it will be special.

Might end up regretting last years upgrade. :(
