What kind of programming can we expect on FreeSports, the new FTA sport channel?

Apparently we will have a new FTA sport channel by end of August, and I am intrigued to see what kind of programming will be on it. I couldn't be certain, but I highly doubt that they will be showing Premier League games or anything like that, but I may be wrong.

What kind of programming do you think will be on it?

Thank you, Dafyduck. This has the potential to be a really great addition to the FTA line-up, if it delivers.

It is a different channel from the UK that is launching.

Have to have a look at what eirsports 1 and 2 plus Premier Sport show as it's Setanta (as was) and Premier who are behind the channel.

Would it be too much to hope for something like The Premiership at around 8 in the evening instead of having to wait until 11 at night for Match of the Day? We didnt know how good we had it with The Premiership on RTE 2, it was the perfect way to digest the days results.

No chance of that - Prem highlights in the UK are BBC exclusive, and they paid a fortune for them

Remember Eurosport circa 1994? That or worse.

Its been setup by the team behind the original Setanta Sports and after selling all there assets and just concentrating on certain markets which they are now running successfully they always stated they wanted to bring a free sports channel along and well this is it...so who knows

As in some of the more bizarre sporting events from mainland Europe? I actually miss them from the current Eurosport Platform.

    :(

94 was probably the last time I got to watch tractor pulling.

Old article, but I imagine anything like that would end up on digital or Saorview. Cant see an Irish Sports Channel on FTA or Freesat, unless they were targeting the Expats in the UK like 'Irish TV' did.

I do remember Hill Climbing in buggys/rally trucks from Scandinavia in the mid noughties.

    Great fun to watch!

Maybe something like this? - first thing I thought of when I read that...

"if it's almost a sport, we've got it here!" :p

Seriously though, it is hard to imagine what they could show that hasn't already been taken by the big 2/3 and still expect to pull in an audience.

I would like to see lots of minority sports on the channel ..... sports like table tennis, squash etc etc with more popular sports also of course.

Rather than repeats those other sports would be preferable IMO.
