    Hi,

so I started looking for a dentist to go in to have a check-up and a cleaning session as well as to bring my children for their first visit. I settled on the Main street since it's quite convenient for me. My question is how do you choose the right dentist? I might be wrong, but I think there are at least four of them on the Main street, the fees they charge are quite similar, but is the most expensive always the best? Any feedback or recommendations are very appreciated.

You can work off recommendations from neighbours/friends/doctors in the area. Look at their fee range. For how many years has the dentist has been in operation there? Qualifications and different treatments offered. How many dentists are in the practice? Nervous patients? How are onward referrals handled? How are dental emergencies handled? How do they come across when you phone them up? How quick can you get an appointment? What's their hours of opening, are they convenient, Mon-Fri during work hours etc? Is there parking? Does the waiting area put you at ease?

My advice, is to pay a visit for a routine check-up, it'll give you a good feel for the dentist and practice. I had to get a new dentist for my last check-up - I will PM you a recommendation.

I've used a few dentists around Swords, and I've settled on Smiles - it's got the most convenient opening hours and booking system, and is definitely very modern and efficient.

I use http://www.swordsvillagedental.ie/ - Dr McGowan in particular is excellent.

Vivian Mongey on Main Street is excellent with children.

Andrew or Ciara in Boroimhe Dental Surgery are both fantastic. Particularly with nervous people and I can vouch for that personally. Good opening hours as they do some evenings and early mornings. Good parking too.
