"I chopped off my finger because I think it looks cute"

This came up as a suggested video on YouTube earlier so I gave it a watch.

It's mainly people talking about their piercings, hair and tattoos but one of the women featured in it lifts up her hand and says "I chopped off my finger because I think it looks cute, who cares?".

    https://youtu.be/5-2urKADWQ8?t=224

Is it just me or has the world gone mad? There's this cheery background music playing while she says this. Why are the BBC promoting extreme self harm? If they made a video in which anorexics or bulimics talk about how great they look there would be uproar.

There's a warning at the beginning of the video "GUIDANCE: some strong language". Really? The BBC expects children to watch this and they think some swearing is what they need 'guidance' for?

The BBC has in the last few years gone atomic full retard on the "progressive/alternative" front. So not a shock that this is in their mix.

I went Dutch and chopped off my earlobe might paint a chair next or a bunch of tulips. Or shoot myself.

The people in the video seem to think they're better than other people. "At least we're being who we are"

There was a guy on Jeremy Kyle once who had done something to himself to look like a parrot!

She also cut off a tattoo and sent it to her boyfriend after he cheated on her.

    Some graphic pictures.

She should be in a mental hospital but instead any time she wants fifteen minutes of fame she knows she can chop part of her body off and she'll get in one the British tabloids or be featured in a BBC YouTube video.

You couldn't make this stuff up. Well you could, but the difficulty with making stuff up these days is the real world out trolls you every time.

Ah some sick b#stards out there, and some people with clear issues and difficulties.

In the late 90's there was a website that would host beheadings and other violent videos. It included a guy who removed his own testicles with a small axe, hacking away, and while they were still barely attached to his body he squeezed them with a vicegrips until this goo oozed out.

Thank god those websites are not out there anymore, but mad stuff.

A few years back there was an interesting and for me compelling enough theory that Van Gogh may not have killed himself. That instead a couple of teenage boys who had a history of taunting him had shot him by mistake, but Vincent didn't want them to suffer for this and saw this as a fitting even inevitable end for him. He lived for a day or so after sustaining the gunshot wound(even found the strength to walk home from the countryside) and was quoted as saying "don't blame anybody else it was my doing". It would explain a few odd things about it. He said he had been out and about painting when it happened, but all his gear was at home. Where would a chap locally well known for mental illness get his hands on a pistol for a start. Never mind that he never owned or carried one before. In his last day he said he'd shot himself and passed out, but then came to later on, looked around for the gun to finish the grim task, but couldn't find it so walked home. And the gun was never found. A gun was found years later in the same area, but the link is tenuous to say the least.

    Hang on...

This girl chops off her finger and everyone is calling her mentally ill and messed up. The BBC have gone full retard etc for promoting it. And rightly so.

But Bruce Jenner chops off his wob and the world rejoices?

That girl that cut off her finger has been on lots of these body mod shows, normally on Channel 5. Her Dad was on with her before and said he could put up and accept everything else but the cutting off of the finger is something he won't get over. There was an awkward silence between the pair of them after that.

The brightest coloured animals are usually poisonous and scream "stay away"
That's generally how i feel about extreme body mod, face tatts and luminous hair coloured people. While they're generally not violent skangery types, you can just tell after a short time they'll be a pain in the hole.
    /massive generalisation based on experience

I have nothing against piercings or tattoos or anything like that but this girl cutting off her finger is really bizarre :/

I know of a lad who has an implant. What i find strange about it is that it's not visible. It's just some substance, I don't know plastic or metal or something under the surface of his forearm. It's not even a thing or a unique shape. I think it's just a rectangle.

It does seem to me like he got it for some kind of conversation piece and not a very good one :/

I wonder does she have that syndrome that makes you feel like a particular body part doesn't belong to you and feels alien? I've heard of people with this syndrome sometimes chopping off a limb because they felt so miserable with it and like it didn't belong. Afterwards they seem much happier, even though I can't fathom it. In this case though it sounds like that girl just chopped off her finger to make her seem "unique" or for attention.

It seems like an extreme form of self harm, or body dysmorphic problem, or probably Body Integrity Identity Disorder.
BIID is typically accompanied by the desire to amputate one or more healthy limbs

You can see more violence on the TV and internet in one day than Crassus himself saw when they crucified a load of people on the southern road to Rome.
