€5k, comfortable largish car

Looking for some suggestions on what car to get next.
Don't do many miles so petrol is prefered, not adverse to diesel but a modern diesel would be choked with my low mileage.

Saloon or estate
Jap or German prefered (but open to anything)
Good spec
Reliable

For 5k looking at a 06/07 high tax Merc BMW Audi or Lexus would be the best way in my opinion to spend the money. You might get a slightly newer car in the likes of a Passat, Avensis etc but if it's comfort you are after don't go any smaller.

Look up 5 series, e class, a6, Lexus Gs. Great deals out there for 5k.

The 2.5 would be so much sweeter but would be double tax....if it was an auto I'd be seriously considering it

Apologies for hijacking, but apart from a lack of power is there anything else I should be keeping eyes open for. I really like the look of this one

I think that may have been my bosses old car. They are properly underpowered imho, but comfortable if a bit boring. I'd suggest a test drive in a lot of different driving conditions before purchase.
