Looking for advice on were to go on honeymoon moo . We can travel 16/1/18 to 18/2/18. We have a budget of €5,000 & can go for 4 weeks. We are thinking Australia direction with a luxury stop off on the way for 4/5 days. We went into the travel agent & they gave us brochers but I was hoping for suggestions . We are opening to traveling anywhere in the world

Have no suggestions but if your going for 4 weeks you'll want more than 5k as your budget,

Bali for luxury for a week or ten days and then flashback in south east Asia for a bit.

For €3000 we went to Florida for a week and then joined a cruise from there around the caribbean, was pure luxury, friends we met on the cruise went on from there to south america (Brazil and Peru) and said it was amazing

We got 2 weeks in South Africa for 5k - including a safari.

Thailand if you haven't been before.

Sri Lanka if you are being a bit more adventurous. Your money would go further here too.

4 weeks for 5k is going to be tough. Thailand or Vietnam maybe? South Africa has a pretty good exchange rate as well

Do you mean €5k for travel costs alone? Assuming you have more money set aside for spending money etc.

Australia would be a relatively expensive option. The costs of dining out would be at least on par with Dublin if not higher, so 4 weeks would get expensive.

Good value to be had in the likes of Vietnam, Thailand etc.

I have been to Thailand several times and its fab but after watching Frances Brennans grand tour of Vietnam that's where I would be going - to include the 2 night cruise in Ha Long Bay

We're doing 2 weeks all out luxury in thailand for 5k.. you could very well do 4 weeks there on a more reserved budget!

TBH you wouldn't get great value for money in Australia - the flights alone would be €2k+ and it's gotten pretty expensive there in recent years. A stay in a nice hotel will really eat into what's left of your budget, and eating out is costly as well. Also the tours etc are dear too, for example the Sydney Harbour bridge climb is up to $400 per person depending on the day you want to do it.

I'd agree with others who suggested Asia - I'd love to do Vietnam. Your money would definitely go a lot further there than Australia.

I agree that Australia is very expensive especially for 4 weeks. Consider South East Asia if you want your money to go further. Myself and my husband to be travelled in both and we lived like kings and queens in South East Asia then when we hit Australia after two weeks we were broke. Mexico could also be a good option? Honeymoon planning myself at the moment and came across this and am day dreaming at luxury hotels (oh well I can dream!) https://www.weddingpixie.com/blog/top-hotels-and-resorts-in-the-world-awards/

OP I got over 2 weeks in Sri Lanka and the Maldives for under 5k. I talked to so many travel agents including trailfinders who were great but www.tropicalfky.ie were by far the best in terms of the service they provided and the deal. Also, always tell everyone its your honeymoon you can get upgrades etc.

Agree with tropical sky. They have a couple of different options and were very competitive in price. Easy to work with despite it only being over phone / email

Trailfinders dont have email - they want to do everything over the phone and they really "Sell" you with stories of allt he fantastic stuff.

Tropical sky just took my requirements and gave me 3 recommendations, with a strong recommendation on the one I went for. Really easy to deal with I was very impressed.

If you're near a Trailfinders, go in and have a chat with them. I eventually booked a long trip with them a while back but only after going in about three times, changing my plan and budget etc. I spoke to theee different people all who were well travelled and full of good advice and their own experience and I never had any pressure put on me to book there & then etc

Australia is very expensive. Even a private room in hostels can be pricy. I'm on holidays atm 2 weeks in the USA and we're going to Cabo San Lucas for a week got a super luxury all inclusive for €1,300 for the 2 of us! Normally €3,000 for the week. When you pick your location keep an eye on expedia that's where I booked Cabo it was the deal of the day next day it was back to full price. Bali is beautiful, you could visit the gili islands too, and Yogagcarta to see the temples. I loved Vietnam too

Buenos Aires, iguassa falls and Rio de Janeiro would be a brilliant trip. You could then chill out in a beach town up the coast from Rio. Buzios is a magical place.

We basically did this on ours. Two years ago - pretty much same dates as the OP too!

Went to Cuzco - Machu Picchu - Lake Titicaca - La Paz/Death Road - Buenos Aires - Iguazu Falls - Rio for the Carnival.

We booked with Travel Nation - they are based in the UK. We booked the flights through them but did accommodation ourselves because theirs was a little expensive and their choice restrictive. This made it much cheaper and easier to control as we had control over altering dates/hotels as needed.

We flew throughout with just one leg being 4 hours on a bus (that was La Paz to Lake Titicaca, which was backtracking a bit but quicker than a bus from Cuzco down to the Lake).

Our flights, tours and accommodation did come in at around €6,000 but the sterling rate was atrocious then. Trailfinders were similar priced, slightly dearer, but their flight times were much poorer with longer stopovers. Our flights were perfect.

It was a bit tooooo hectic for a honeymoon I would say, luxury wasn't really our thing - we wanted to see as much as possible. And loved every minute. We did a couple of luxury hotels to break it up, which was nice.

Rio was very expensive because of the Carnival, but other than that it was perfect!
