    Thanks

Sorry to hijack, but was reading back a few pages and couldn't see any other threads on the subject.

Never purchased travel insurance so I'm really looking for an idiots guide..
Booking a holiday in Cancun, which will likely include a stopover in US..

Was really looking for the best insurance on the market to cover as many eventualities as possible, including having to cancel due to unforseen events etc..

Is there a Rolls Royce-type policy that anyone could point me towards?

    Thanks in advance..

I bought Multitrip.com with no excess and found it useful when I had €35 medical expenses after a chest infection in Asia earlier this year. No bother making the claim or getting paid only had to send in receipts and all the paperwork I brought with me. These guys just love paperwork so always get loads of it when you get sick etc.

Anyone have any experience purchasing travel insurance while not living in Ireland?

As far as I know all will have a condition that you need to be a resident here. Have you tried booking from the country you are living in now?

From my experience I bought IMG Global ( Patriot) for my son while he was abroad 3 yrs ago. Its one of the few companies that will cover while abroad, BTW it was best money I spent, as he had accident costing $7000 they paid up but hospital in Thailand wanted payment up front and witheld his passport, eventually released it. All paperwork is through USA if one needs to claim.

When ever I go to Thailand I use Blue insurance.
