Insurance for two cars

Apologies if this is is in the wrong forum. I was going to put it in 2motoring forum and it can be moved as needed. Please note I'm not looking for legal advice.
I crashed my car two months ago and got it fixed through the insurance and the garage took the complete hand. For example, when I say I crashed it I swerved and put it in the ditch against a wall. I had to get the right side panel replaced etc but they also replaced the right side wheels (not just tyres which was all that's needed). I know nothing about cars but even I know one side of a car tyres shouldn't be replaced because they will wear unevenly.
When my husband picked up the car today he was pulling out of the garage went to look in the rear view mirror and it wasn't there! They forgot to put it back when they fixed the windscreen!
I was meant to get the car back Friday two weeks ago but only got it today. Can I complain?
The garage the insurance took the car to is 45 minutes drive from our house. We asked for a local garage but No, and also asked the repair garage to bring the car back but again no.
Ps not trying to get money but just can I say it's unacceptable

    Eh?

Get on to your insurance and tell them they've not reattached the mirror.

First off your title is misleading.

Secondly once your partner discovered the mirror wasn't attached...as he was leaving the garage...why did he not just reverse and say "excuse me you forgot to reattach the mirror"?

Thirdly why does it matter what the garage did to the car? Your insurance is covering it right? Also putting aside cowboy stores I'm sure the garage replaced what was required to make your car safe for your drive once again and road worthy

Also depending on the policy your insurer may have a right to choose which garage your car goes to,especially if you were at fault. Also I'm not aware of a garage providing a delivery service to return your car to you are your house

Thanks for the replies my husband went straight back and got the mirror. I suppose I'm just a bit worried that if a garage can't get the basics done right have they done a good enough job making my car safe enough to drive

Did you not get a report from them after they handed the car over saying what they did?

You sound a bit paranoid, trust me a garage isn't going to leave themselves open to a lawsuit by not doing the job right. A review mirror is an oversight(you cam even fix it yourself)but not even a nessicity, truck drivers don't use them.

No just a receipt for the excess. It's hardly being paranoid to want a safe car

Yes of course but it's a far cry from a rear view mirror not being attatched to the possibility a car being a danger and unroadworthy
