    Can you claim for Treatment Benefit after buying the hearing aid?

    Friend of a friend bought hearing aids June of this year, but didn't know of the grant at the time. He's early 60's, and not working in the last year or two, so he doesn't know if eligible for the grant, or if he can claim it now.

    "Payment under the Medical Appliance Scheme is only made in respect of appliances purchased or repaired by Suppliers who have a contract signed with the Minister to operate the Scheme."


    So if he used a supplier who is on the DSP's list* then he'll be OK, although they should have informed him of the existence of the grant.

    And if he didn't then he's out of luck, I'm afraid.
