We are back after a two week hiatus and we will see if Mercedes keeps the upper hand or if Ferrari can win like in Monaco at a track that is not as power hungry as Silverstone

Have no choice but to watch on Sky this weekend. Who will be on with Croft instead of Brundle. DiResta? Even I would choose him ahead of Herbert

It's a shame C4 aren't showing this live going into the break.

KMag was quality in the press conference. "There's a reason a Ferrari is more exciting than a Mazda"
    "If it's sh1t, it's sh1t"

    Talking about the halo

Gio put Kmag's car into the wall in FP1. Not good! Session red flagged.

McLaren improving again. I could see them being the 4th fastest team by end of season but the constructors championship probably won't reflect it as they have too much catching up to do points wise.

It's been a few PF1's in a row now where McLaren have been comfortably in the top 10 but it has all come to nought, best to keep the powder dry for the moment. Hungary is also about the best cicuit for McLaren, it was part of the reason Alonso took so many penalties at the last race.

The way he keeps crashing it looks like a successor to Maldonado has been found.

Only this guy will never start an F1 race again as a result most likely.

Hamiltons fastest time was on softs, everyone else was supersoft. Would love to see another Danny Ric win this weekend. Surprised to see the Haas cars so far off the pace after a few promising races. Poor Palmer, probably his best shot of the season to get points and he is making an absolute mess of things.

What we can read from the times is what cars have a better chassis. Power is not as important here. Renault are catching up, Red Bull is their yard stick. Williams are way down, so the Merc engine is not saving them. Same with Haas, their chassis is not as good and they aren't doing well although they have a Ferrari engine. Hopefully this race will be nicely mixed up but I do see Merc/Hamilton running away with.

Vettel had a great lap. Half a second faster than Kimi and a second faster than Bottas.

Interesting situation for Sky. Bundle is off sick and was supposed to be replaced by DiResta however, Massa is ill and DiResta may actually have to drive in the race.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,530 ✭✭✭Harika

Guess Davidson or Hill would jump in if di resta drives the Williams

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,469 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Mercedes about a second off the pace in FP3

I presume Davidson could do the commentary and they could work without the skypad or have someone prepare it for him after the race

Confirmed Di Resta will replace Massa.

I think Vet will crash in this race towards the start. Maybe a torpedo scenario again

I call for a safety car caused by or involving Sainz.

    Random race prediction.

What about Mclaren and Force India? This race is there best chance for some more points.

I hope not. Think has had enough bad luck the last couple of years. Would like to see him win this race or at least be ahead of Hamilton that way it keeps the championship interesting and still ongoing.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Last race Martin Brundle taken ill replaced by DiResta.
This race Felipe Massa taken ill replaced by DiResta.

Not suggesting anything sinister, maybe just a coincidence. Eaten any souls lately Paul ? :D

I don't know about that but I'd happily put some laxative in Massa's lunch to avoid spending two days in a small box with Croft.

Di resta already within 107% and that's all that counts and not crashing the car

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,904 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

Palmer 6 tenths slower than Hulk after 11 rounds.
DiResta never driven the car before 7 tenths slower than Stroll.

    PMSL at Sky commentators.
"Let's see what Jolyon can do, can he outqualify his teammate for the first time this season?"
Palmer laps 1 second slower than Hulk.
"That's a handy lap from Hulk"

Wow, Force Indias are really unsuited to the Hungaroring.

Also, two McLarens in Q3...when was the last time?

I seem to recall Brundle saying the illness took hold while in the Williams motorhome. I'm not trusting the catering there in any case.

Hamilton is already dismissing any chance of him winning but I wouldn't be so sure. Undercut Bottas in the pit-stop, watch Ferrari f*ck up their strategies and he'll have a more comfortable summer break.

    This too shall pass.

I'd say 50/50 luck and sorting.
They have been put out of races by being hit by cars as well their own problem of not being able to finsh.

    So Max 1, Danny 2,Alonso 3.

I would love that because Danny alwas makes me lough.:)

Honda are still in the sh1ts but Hungary is not as power dependent as most circuits so the chassis and aero are more dominant. As alot of commentators have been saying this year's McLaren is a pretty good car.

Remember McLaren took engine penalties at Silverstone specifically to have a decent chance of making the chequered flag at Hungary as they know it'll be their best chance of a result this year.
