Hot press odour

Over the past few days I've noticed a strange odour coming from my hot press. It's not a damp smell but a smell like glue or chemicals. I've gotten the smell before but not to the same extent. I don't think it's anything electrical. The immersion heater is never used. There is a pump for the shower that was only replaced in the last few months and is turned off when not in use. In the hot press there is the water tank, and because it's a closed system, an expanded sion tank. I know this sounds a bit crazy but I was wondering would it be from the fabric conditioner used on the clothes stored in the hot press?

Take all the clothes out of the hotpress, and anything else that shouldn't be there, and see if the smell goes away.

You are telling an Irish person that you clothes shouldn't be in a hot press! Answer I usually get is why did they make it so big if not for clothes.
    :)

Might be worth checking under the floor boards for something that may have found it's way in there to die.
